Face paint has been used for cultural purposes for centuries. Face painting booths are a staple at carnivals and fairs, and elaborate make-up is often used in theatrical performances. Recently, though, face paint has started to make it's way into the mainstream. Indie concert-goers have been seen with painted faces, and fashion designers have sent models down runways with paint smeared across their cheeks.
