It is pretty sad that people are writing headlines without a clue. But the clueless blog leaving us all in a fog....

The Pentagon Papers were a research project of the RAND corporation. The article listed here from Wired has nothing to do with that. Nor does it have anything to do with a CIA version of the Pentagon Papers, albeit forty years later (the timeframe something like that might be disclosed). So it is false, and false advertising.

The gist of the article is that the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the ACLU are holding the Obama administrations feet to the fire, over intelligence oversight that was castrated, maimed, and left for dead by the Bush Administration. It doesn't seem any better now, as there are no pending appointments to the oversight board by President Obama.

Better titles include "Obama blocks Intelligence Oversight" "Suit seeks truth about CIA misconduct" and "Why does Obama want the CIA to have no oversight"?

I agree. This starts out as the fault of the writers/editors at Wired.com, but I wish the HuffPo editors would do a more thorough job of vetting headlines and not repeating ones that are inappropriate. Of course, HuffPo itself from time to time concocts headlines that are either merely misleading or completely ridiculous.

That being said, I wish these folks luck. I would like to see all of the information come out about the nefarious activities of the previous administration. But it's going to be a long, tough haul unless the DOJ decides to do it. Even then, it's hard to guess what would get past classification barriers.

Obama is not the DOJ and needs to BUTT OUT! Agents should be named and personally prosecuted. Just like any profession they can be replaced.........

Perhaps. But he isn't in the position -- nor has he the time -- to deal with FOIA requests.

Nor can he politically interfere with AG Holder.

And the Pentagon can decide on its own to release the documents; the only reason they haven't is fear of lawsuits . . . which is what is happening as consequence of that fear.
