We will bankrupt our own country in order to finance our war machine. Sad, truly sickening and sad.

familiarity breeds contempt...what we need to do is leave them alone to work out their own issues. Bring the troops home!

Forget Iran. Pakistan might be the biggest security threat on the planet. They're in constant danger of becoming a failed state, 40% of the country is essentially run by the same people we "forced" out of Afghanistan... and they already HAVE the bomb. Iran's secular culture - that is, the culture hidden behind and dominated by a theocratic regime - is about as close to the West as you can hope for. They're natural allies of the US, and yet we paint the entire country as evil because of the ramblings from a single puppet leader standing in front of a religious government that needs to be overthrown and deposed.

Now look at Pakistan, where an arguable majority of the population identify with and shelter members of both Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Ruled by a military dictator with little regard for his own people and faced with an increasingly powerful Taliban insurgency in the Swat valley, the government will either be overthrown in the near future or be forced to align with the Taliban out of self preservation. Yet here we are throwing gobs of unconditional monetary aid for military use in Pakistan. That simply needs to stop.

McCain said it a long time ago when the set battles in Afghanistan were winding down shortly after 911. After Afghanistan we attack Iraq, then Syria, then Somalia, then Iran, and then Pakistan. They are all on the hit list. Now that Iraq combat troops are available and after pushing Syria out of Lebanon, and after driving out the Islamic government of Somalia, Iran is next.

North Korea never was on the hit list if we are to believe McCain

Need more evidence Iran is to be conqurd next? Look at Gates ramping up another 20,000 Army troops. Look at the distribution of US forces on both sides of Iran. Listen to where the rhetoric is leading to... "annilation of Iran" quoting Hillary and Obama insisting Iran change or else..

I think most Americans object, too.

I went to a "town hall meeting" of my senator, Clair McCaskill, last week, of which she sent a staffer. When the subject came up about the wars, EVERYONE IN THE ROOM unanimously told her for us to get our troops out of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. The staffer just smiled and acted like she wrote down something.

They are not listening to us.

They never were. Hope you're taking notes, because "they" include the Democrats just as much as the Republicans.

I agree with you. There is absolutely no difference in the quest for the mighty dollar on both sides of the aisle.

It was because of america's poor planning early into the war that the taliban found refuge along the western border of pakistan...(a strategy that involved air strikes rather than ground troop presence)

who cares about pakistan? the world's obsessed with pakistan.
