The recessional music at Cronkite's funeral service, "When the Saints Go Marching In," was performed by the New York Jazz Academy Classic Jazz All-Stars, a band led by St. Bartholomew's Church's house saxophonist, Javier Arau. He is an incredible talent and plays quite a bit at events at St. Bart's and around the city.

It was a beautiful service, and I loved the end song..,"When the saints go marching in". Very very classy to the end.

Looks like it already got an emmy.

I was impressed at the outpouring of emotion, as Andy Rooney choked up and Sanford Socolow recalled some of the more unusual and humorous moments from Cronkite's life...it was curious to hear that Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead gave Uncle Walter a drum set, and that Jimmy Buffett came by in his seaplane landing in the East River facing Cronkite's apartment to visit and bring a ukelele for a mini-concert just a few days before he passed. MSNBC deserves a great big "thank you" for airing the webcast of the service, and the Cronkite family should be praised for letting in TV cameras and microphones to accomplish same. Many of us felt he was family. RIP, Mr. Cronkite.

Shouldn't he be given more airtime than MJ?

RIP, Walter! Nobody will ever replace you. I can't even think of anyone who at least remotely could walk in your footsteps.

Headline says: WATCH LIVE: Walter Cronkite's Funeral

If he reads this he will probably suggest you hire a copy editor, but you won't get the message until there is WiiI everywhere.

Don't wish to watch a funeral, but I will salute this gentleman who brought so much credit to his now discredited profession.
