What's next Universal Internet Insurance?

That is absolutely fine - as long as our service providers don't charge a fee for VISITING sites or create a "package" system like cable companies do, where regular folks' sites are excluded in preference for corporate sites.

So exactly what have I been doing when I've been paying 60 bucks a month for internet service? These piggies are about 10 years to late to start coming up with a pay scheme for online services. People are used to and quite enjoy free services like HULU. Now you want to charge them. Unfortunately, the success of Itunes has made these people believe we'll buy anything we once could get for free. I'm not falling for it, though. I hope you don't either.

That's funny. TV is able to offer content with ads only but we should pay for the internet on top of the fees we already pay to connect? Won't work. Especially not in this economy where people are cutting back. Try to make people pay to visit your site and you will quickly lose traffic. People won't pay. But please, do it so someone smarter can get show you how it's really done Old man.

The Diller photo is the face of greed. But the smirk looks downright silly. Does he really think he can own the Internet?

They can do it, especially since they own the means for transporting signals. As long as satellites and optical fiber lines remain in their hands they can control the means of communication. Both Comcast and AT@T have already talked about setting price scales per MBPS of download speed. Just like the Airlines they will nickel and dime the public to death until they limit the internet to those they want to have access and deny to those they don't. Only the well heeled will have access and the well heeled will be Republicans. As I have pointed out, this is just another means of denying Freedom of Speech to those they consider their enemies. We need to have the Government take charge of the Satellites and fiber optics to insure Neutrality.

I love it when old fossils who don't know how a computer works tells the world how they are going to monetize the internet. The RIAA has been after file sharers for a decade and hasn't stopped it. The Chinese government can't keep people from searching up the word freedom. Scenesters are going to prison but album and movie leaks are still winding up on the web. Hackers are still hacking. Crackers are still cracking. And this mummy-dust-farting blowhard is going to conquer the laws of thermodynamics and keep my 1s and 0s from being free. Hubris is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and Hell will be frozen over before you win a fight against the internet.

These Republicans can't wait to deny liberals the means to communicate freely and to destroy Net Neutrality. The Net is the last and only means of keeping in check the right wings attempt to install a totalitarian Government in America. What needs to be done is for the U.S. Government to take over the entire communications network so that these Corporations can't use it to throttle Americans.

So far, everyone who has tried to charge for content has been under bid by some competitor who will provide equal or better content for free.

I agree that the future of the Internet is Freemium. There is precious little on the Internet I'm willing to pay for, and those that I would pay for I would pay well for.

Most of the Internet is worth what I pay for it: a few minutes of my day. Lock it behind a credit card screener and you will lock it into obsolescence. I simply would rather do without than pay for your opinions.

Let me translate Mr. Diller for you. He means to say, "The world must forever remain a place in which arrogant corporate parasites can rake off 70 percent of the value of every transaction. Anything else would be sheer MADNESS!"

tired of the profit motive in HEALTH CARE, oil and now the internet.

Profit motive is what has made drugs available to everyone, unregulated, untaxed and totally dangerous ~

Tired of unfettered capitalism running wild and damaging our country.

Then were would you be, as all the things that you enjoy and that sustain your life are brought to you through corporations?
