Katie Holmes' Leggy Judy Garland Dance (VIDEO)

Katie Holmes performed a tribute to Judy Garland on the 100th episode of So You Think You Can Dance Thursday night.

Holmes, 30, danced to and sang Garland's classic "Get Happy" in a tux jacket and tights to promote her Dizzy Feet Foundation, which provide scholarships and assistance to kids who want to become professional dancers and will also help dance instruction nationwide.

The dance starts after 2 minutes.

As a Judy Garland fan extraordinaire, I can attest that the original "Get Happy" wasn't more than strutting and singing either. It's clear that Katie can't hold a candle to Garland, and doesn't have the style, the cool, the Rat Pack panache that Garland brought to one of her iconic performances. I just hated Katie's version.

But, that's not entirely her fault. Nigel Lythgoe et al declared this one of the greatest performances "ever on television," and hyped up how BRILLIANT Katie was so much, so that there was no way she was going to be given credit for doing anything less than that. Having said that I dislike Katie's version, I will say that movement wise she was okay, she doesn't have 2 left feet though she's clearly not a "real" dancer. She wouldn't have gotten half the virtiol she's received if Nigel exaggerated her abilities.

Yeah, you are probably right, but we remember Garland sang and danced up a storm. How did she do that? (This one we aren't going to remember like that.) It's a mystery.

This girl was brilliant in a little film called "Pieces of April". I still hope great things for her.
