Robot Model Mimu Debuts In Japan

First Posted: 08/24/2009 5:12 am Updated: 05/25/2011 1:40 pm

From the country that brought us vending-machine dresses to hide from muggers comes the latest in technology and fashion: the robot model. In the video below, the robot model Mimu makes her runway debut dressed as a bride. "Today I'm wearing a wedding dress for the first time..." Mimu says, "I'm really happy."

Now that is pretty offensive. Japanese women in their early sixties look like western women in their mid-fourties. Sad (for us western women), but true... If I were a man, I'd probably marry one. :)

... but let's not be nation-specific. The same goes, (staying looking young) for Chinese, Korean, Singaporean, and the rest of Asia as well.

For course there are some exceptions to the rule, but the genetic thing is pretty conclusive stuff.

Why do the Japanese have this extraordinary talent to make things very very creepy?

You know, something like this:

If you know anything about Japanese culture, you know how incredibly creepy it is that they chose to put this thing in a wedding dress. Fully-grown Japanese men buy these little Lolita-style sex dolls. They're very popular. Eew.

I take offense to that remark. My son is half Japanese born and bred here in Tokyo. The culture is different but has a lot more to offer than whats on the plate back at home. No cops arresting professors, brilliant public transportation (best in the world), safe streets, technologically miles ahead of anything going on in the US. Public heathcare system for everyone (that not even up for debate here), No birther movement, etc etc etc.

Be careful calling this culture creepy, because to everyone else, whats happening in the US is creepy.

.... but you have to admit that the, "Lolita" fetish is pretty weird, eh?

On the plus side, the human models can start eating again. On the down side, the robot needs organic material for power.

And so it begins. . .

How intensely exciting.

This is only the beginning.

It's only a matter of time before we have to contend with this:

THEN: "Sorry honey, I had some urgent business to attend to in Argentina..."

FUTURE: "Sorry honey, I had to work late at the office and tweak the robot a little...."
