Lobbying interests that President Obama campaigned against last year have gained the upper hand on the White House in recent weeks.

In stark contrast to Obama's first few months in office, special interest groups this summer have aggressively opposed the president's top domestic priorities. And they have succeeded in slowing legislation to revamp the nation's healthcare system, won an essential change to climate change legislation and put off efforts to set up a consumer agency in the financial sector.

Freedom of speech comes with a price. You can only be heard with money. This is unconstitutional. The 24th amendment was enacted to give everyone equal representation in government. The 24th amendment specifically only addressed poll taxes but this is the same thing. Unless you have money you don't have a voice.

Although they note that Feldstein is an economics professor at Harvard and a few other things from his bio, they fail to disclose that he's on the Board of Directors of Eli Lilly. - From Business Week:

Director, Chairman of Public Policy & Compliance Committee, Member of Audit Committee and Member of Finance Committee, Eli Lilly & Co.

He was also on AIG's board of directors.
