" I shot myself in my pinky toe!"

(A Harlem Nights reference, for all the cognoscenti)

This makes no sense, the man shot his own self for Pete's sake. How much more punishment does he need? The death penalty???

I offer him my understanding. I understand he took a gun to a nightclub and shot himself. I understand that he wants the grand jury to ignore the law because he is a rich athlete and shouldn't have to follow the law like mere mortals. I understand that he is lucky he isn't being tried for killing someone. The law applies to everyone. That's what I understand. My understanding of mandatory is that it is not open to negotiation.

He's not remorseful because of the gun, he's just remorseful because he almost lost his nutsack.

He made a stupid mistake, he was the only one injured. I believe he is remorseful
and has learned his lesson. Hope he only gets a fine and community service.

As a Giants fan, I've watched this story from the beginning and I can tell you that he didn't act very remorseful with the Giants. He sued them for the balance of his salary for the season even though he was suspended and felt he didn't owe his teammates or management anything which was why the Giants finally released him. Now that he knows he can't get the plea bargain that he wanted he is suddenly asking for mercy. IMO, he is only trying to get sympathy. Had he acted more responsibly from the beginning and truly been outspoken in admitting his regret an accepting punishment, he would probably have the chance to be playing football this year.

"He made a stupid mistake"
knowingly breaking the law is not a "stupid mistake."

"he was the only one injured."
luckily for him.

"I believe he is remorseful"
and i REALLY want the giants back at the super bowl this year!

"and has learned his lesson."
by having one of his posse carry his illegal firearm next time.

"Hope he only gets a fine and community service."
because he's a celebrity athlete--MY celebrity athlete--and i want my team to WIN!

It's unfortunate he went to my high school. I'm sure Coach Shuman and Coach Sullivan taught him better than this.

I'm sorry, but is his lawyer Bernie Madoff?
