Don Imus Tells Chris Wallace: Lou Dobbs Acting Like "Grassy Knoll Nut" (VIDEO)

Lou Dobbs, whose flaxen locks change color and hue depending on how terrified he is that day of the coming Mexican reconquista, is all about the birthers now. And everyone is yelling at him, save his boss, Jon Klein, who's busy pretending that Dobbs is covering the controversy instead of fanning it. Who's yelling at him today? Chris Wallace and Don Imus, for starters!

WALLACE: You know, I guess what surprises me is that one of our competitors, I'm not going to say their name, but their initials are CNN, they're saying, well, we really can't decide for the public what a legitimate news story is, so we'll cover it; what if a bunch of people decided the earth is flat, we're now going to report that story and let people vent on that? That's what news organizations are about, is debunking and editing and deciding what's relevant and what's worth talking about, and what isn't, and clearly the birth certificate story isn't worth talking about because it isn't true. And I think to everybody's satisfaction it's been demonstrated it's not true. I'm a little surprised -- you know, I'm not surprised that people will do things, because some people will do something for ratings every time.

IMUS: Like, uh, I guess leading the charge is my friend, by the way, Lou Dobbs, who appears on this program on a regular basis, and I like -- love Lou, known him for years, but it makes him look like a grassy knoll nut.

WALLACE: Well, exactly, exactly. But either grassy knoll nut or just so calculating in his sense, well, there's some audience out there and I'll chase it.

IMUS: I can't believe Lou Dobbs would do that, do you?

WALLACE: Oh no, no --

IMUS: Or you either.

I know. You're going to want to take a minute to wash that thick film of irony off of your hands and face. Go ahead. I'll give you a minute.

Also yelling at Lou Dobbs? Time Magazine's Mark Halperin, for Pete's sake! You know you've messed up when Halperin's walking around with the upper hand on you.

Am I the only person who has noticed that the birthers have yet to produce a single example of the "Hawaii Long-Form Birth Certificate" they keep crying for? I lived in Hawaii, I have not seen one single example of this mysterious form the birthers say must be produce to lay this lunacy to rest. I've see videos and pictures of birthers in other areas of the country waving around what they claim to be copies of their legitimate birth certificates, but non here in Hawaii. If everyone born in Hawaii is issued this mysterious Long-Form Birth Certificate, then there should be hundreds of thousands, millions of these document floating around. But so far all we have been treated to are documents the brithers claim are not valid. You would think they could show us what they are willing to accept rather than simply point at every document produced and denounce it a forgery and invalid, wouldn't you? If I'm looking to find a lost dog, I show people a picture of the dog I am looking for, or at least a picture of the the same breed of dog - I wouldn't just hold up picture after picture of dogs that look nothihg like my dog and explain why these dogs don't resemble aren't the dog I am looking for.

The answer is simple. No matter what documents are produced, they will never be acceptable to the birthers. He's black and that is what they cannot stand.

the only reason these fake stores get any traction is that americans in general are among the least educated people in the developed world with a population that is taught to fear "the boogeyman" who will threaten your way of life (poverty, obesity, dismal health care, crime- you know the good stuff). so the birther story is perfect for their scary world- dobbs knows it and is just playing it for them. but the fact that CNN that claims to be a news leader allows it on their airwaves is indefensible- and any CCN reporter that agrees to go on his show has NO credibility in my view. He is tainting the entire organization.

Republicans are Machiavellians who have to make enemies of everybody but the American- born, and create fear of imaginary enemies on the part of the unthinking bigots and knee-jerk dimwits. All part of their "southern strategy" that has caused people to vote against their own best interests (and those of their families) for decades. Republicans have catered to these people ever since the civil rights movement.

THe problem with this strategy is that elegant tastful Republicans like our former neighbors the bank resident and his wife who gardens can no longer tolerate the embarrasment of being considered part of this classless hillbilly crowd. And these lowlifes have taken over the whole Republican Party puppet show, so there is no place to hide for straightforward Republicans of the old school to hide anymore. They kind of ignored all of the racism and the exclusionary religious prattling because they knew without these votes the Republicans couldn't win (precisely because voting for a Republican is for most ordinary people a vote against one's own best interests).

President Obama has been sworn in two times by Chief Justice Roberts, he does not have to show his birth certificate any more as it is a done fact he IS the 44th President of the United States and nothing can change that fact. The birthers should just go home and find another cause to stew about.

He is not reporting the facts or the truth. He is saying that Obama is not showing his birth certificate. He did in fact show it, on his web site, there are pictures of it that reporters have shown on TV including the seal and there are newspaper archives that announce his birth. Yet Dobbs says there is still missing evidence. THAT is not fanning?
