Erin Andrews

By Johnnie Roberts, AP:

ATLANTA The ESPN reporter surreptitiously videotaped nude in a hotel room expressed frustration at being "treated like Britney Spears" when she called 911 to report paparazzi gathered outside her Atlanta area home.

In an audiotape released Wednesday, Erin Andrews is heard speaking with a 911 operator in suburban DeKalb County on July 22 to complain about two people parked in a car outside her home in a gated community.

Andrews identifies herself and tells the operator, "I'm all over the news right now," and describes herself as "the girl that was videotaped in my hotel room in the nude."

Clearly frustrated on the call, Andrews uses expletives to describe the two men whom she says also knocked on her door.

"I did nothing wrong, and I am being treated like (expletive) Britney Spears, and it sucks," Andrews told the operator.

LISTEN:

Dunwoody police spokesman, Sgt. Mike Carlson, said officers responded to the call but no incident report was filed. Dunwoody is about 14 miles north of Atlanta.

It was not clear when the video of Andrews in the hotel room first appeared on the Internet. The person who first posted the video didn't identify the nude woman, but Andrews' attorney has since confirmed the video was of the 31-year-old reporter.

The blurry, five-minute video shows Andrews standing in front of a hotel room mirror, fixing her hair in the nude. It's unknown when or where it was shot. Andrews' attorney Marshall Grossman said the video was shot without her knowledge and Andrews plans to seek criminal charges and file civil lawsuits against whoever shot the video and anyone who publishes the material.

Andrews, a former University of Florida dance team member, was an Internet sensation even before the video's circulation. Some Web sites have referred to her as "Erin Pageviews" because of the traffic she can generate, and Playboy magazine named her "sexiest sportscaster" in both 2008 and 2009. She has covered numerous sports for the network since 2004, often as a sideline reporter.

As a husband and a father, if my wife or daughter were to run afoul of this kind of garbage (i.e. invasion of privacy, unwanted video recording, paparazzi outside on private property) and the police didn't respond promptly, I'm afraid that I'd have to take matters into my own hands. Those jerks would enjoy seeing a few friends of mine on their way home from a baseball practice approach their car while swinging baseball bats. Hey, maybe their tires would magically deflate, too. And if a little paint were to make their auto glass opaque and make it difficult to take photos while sitting in their car, then I guess it's all in the cost of a days work for them.

And they would probably be taking your mug shots, as well as your friends, in jail. You don't know all the facts so you ought to temper your remarks. The key word in your first sentence is IF...if Andrews was indeed being stalked. But two guys sitting in a car is perfectly legal where I come from. What's she doing, looking out her window every five minutes? Listen to the 911 call.

I so agree with you. The negative comments below are just more of the 'the ra pe victim deserved it' mentality that I really find disturbing.

Either they were paparazzi, potential criminals or stalkers. It doesn't matter. People get uncomfortable when sitting across from someone on a train or bus that is staring at them. Having people camped outside your home watching you must be ter.rifying.

I feel bad for her. She didn't deserve any of this. Nobody does.

Women who are being stalked have every right and should take it seriously. Erin Andrews is totally right in calling PD

A 911 call because two people are sitting in a car? Maybe they were responding to an earlier 911 complaint about a late pizza delivery.

What a narcissist. That 911 call says everything you need to know about her. ESPN will be letting her go very soon.

Many of us think it's a publicity stunt that backfired. There's no law against papparazzis.

Isn't Erin's 15 mins about up with this. Frankly she should roll with it and make the best of it. She might even consider a career change. I had no clue who she was until this incident and still don't really care about her journalistic skills at this point.

ok, nobody wants to see you naked, erin... nobody especially wants to pay a website to see you naked. there's just something unseemly and very telling about you informing everybody that there are naked pictures of you on the internet every freaking 3 minutes.

The infamous video is very blurred. You cannot tell from it that it is her, only that the subject is Caucasian and she has long blonde hair. Boy, that really narrows the possibilities, doesn't it? All she had to do was deny it, and who would be able to disprove it? It would have been the end of the story. Instead, she admits it's her, then makes a federal case out of it, brings attorneys and ESPN execs into it, now this 911 call.

I do feel for Erin. She never asked for any of this to happen. She didn't get caught getting out of a car showing off her "goodies." She hasn't been seen partying or dating tons of celebrities. She doesn't pose for magazines. She doesn't even wear skimpy clothing. She dresses rather conservative. No short skirts, no low cut shirts. At her job she always goes out of her way to present herself as a professsional as she can. Anybody that says anything different than that clearly does not follow sports and shouldn't say anything.

The only thing this poor girl did was be an attractive woman doing the best she can in a thankless job (sideline reporting) in a male dominated enviornment. And what does she get? Some sick person films her in a private moment. For now on, when she does an interview, or even goes to the supermarket, when she see's a man she's going to wonder if they have seen that video. When she checks a hotel room, she's going to have to have security sweep the room for more cameras. Her life is forever changed by this and she never asked for any of it. And to add to it, now people are following her home.

I feel sorry for Erin. And I'm usually not one to preach.

this is part of the probably with the media: it hires "dance team members" to be broadcasters. Sex sells and she is promoting her sexuality to her advantage, i.e, more people will watch to "see" her rather than for any information she may impart.

if you're implying that men prefer to look at attactive women as opposed to ugly people, then yes you are correct. but she does do a pretty good job in a thankless job. she's probably the best at what she does. no matter if it's football, basketball, or even college baseball, she is informed, prepared and professional.

So what.
If she was a University of Florida dance team member, she most likely has a college degree. Maybe she majored in Journalism.
She is an ESPN reporter. What is their viewing demographic?
They are not NPR. More viewers=More advertising dollars=More profit=Successful company.

I guess her gated community is the kind that does not have an actual guard at the gate. I've lived in a few places like this and they seem to generate a false sense of security. If there is not an actual person there controlling who gets in, anyone can tailgate their way in or just wait for someone to come out & drive in the exit gate. Gated apartment complexes are especially bad about this because no one seens to care about security. Personally, I have sat in the exit gate for several minutes before to prevent someone from coming in the exit. After a few minutes the guy still hadn't left so I called the management folks in the office. They verified that the person did not live there and ran him off. Granted, he probably came back 15 minutes later and got in anyway, but at least I did my part, even if I was the only one.

she is a sideline reporter. as in sidelines during games, not a show. and ESPN is a network, not a show. you obviously know what you are talking about.

She is the sideline "reporter" on college and pro football, a real necessary position for a football fan to understand the game. *dripping with sarcasm*

KArate kid,

YOU posts seem to beg the question: When was the last time you enjoyed the company of an attractive woman? By your remarks here it is pretty obvious that the answer is "not in a a long long time".
