Yellow Rat Snake Found In New Jersey

LITTLE SILVER, NJ (AP) -- Police are trying to determine how a snake common to southern states ended up in a New Jersey.

Police in Little Silver helped catch the 5- to 6-foot yellow rat snake on Wednesday.

The snake is not venomous and is often found in Florida, and along the Atlantic coast from North Carolina to Georgia.

Police are trying to determine if the snake was a pet that escaped or if its owner released it.

either dumb police or dumb reporter. if thats the picture of the actual snake caught, then youd find out simply by looking in a book that its not a yellow rat snake. its a green tree python. and deffinately not 5 to 6 foot. or if thats just a picture that the reporter could find of a yellow snake, then why do that. post a picture of a snake not even from this continent and say its from the southern states. really smart on either part. im guessing nj is a pretty smart town. kudos to you guys.
