Bill Maher Issues Warning On Birthers: They Can Take Over "Like Crab Grass Or Cirque Du Soleil" (VIDEO)

Tonight on HBO, Bill Maher took on the "birther" movement because, in his words, "In America, you know what, if you don't immediately kill errant bullshit no matter how ridiculous, it can grown and thrive and eventually take over like crab grass or cirque du soleil."

"In America," Maher explained, "There is no idea so patently absurd that it can't catch on." The idea catching on here is that Obama is an undocumented alien, with no U.S. birth certificate, and his presidency is, thus, "illegal."

"Lou Dobbs said recently that people are asking a lot of questions about the birth certificate." Maher continued. "Yes. The same people that want to know where the sun goes at night. And... where to put the stamp on their email. And Lou, you're their new king"

Pay close attention to the following Hawaiian legal statute:

“[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State.
(a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.
(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, §1]”

As long as an adult can walk into Hawaii’s version of the Department of Records and provide proof that they are a legal resident of Hawaii, the document is issued.

It is not dummies talking to dummies that make these stories dangeroud. It is billionaires standing to make even more billions if Obama fails in ANYthing. - Anything he even tries that is. But that's another story.

No, Maher missed one thing that still seems to have lipped our minds: The press is more tighly controlled than the sphincter of Bush in the mens room. The ideas grow because billionaires like Rupert Murdoch pour millions into it being blown out of proportion, no matter how ridiculous.

Remember the story about Iraq being able to destroy the USA in an hour? - Or Bin Laden being responsible for 911 - a "fact" not even the FBI will verify even remotely - for lack of ANY evidence? - Or Giuliani knowing that the towers would collaps before the second plane hit in an interview but never was asked how? - Or that free market is good? - Or that pinochet, Saddam, Idi Amin, the Shah of Persia, .... are great leaders and deserve our support? - Or that it was the farmers that wanted to grow Opium in Afghanistan and not the CIA and its Taliban warlords? ................

Sorry but the repetitions are NOT a good reason for us to believe them. In fact it is usually the news they do NOT tell us that is close to the truth they fear more than giving money to people who actually work for it.
