Larry David Talks 'Seinfeld' Cast Reunion

PASADENA, Calif. — Larry David says the on-screen reunion of the "Seinfeld" cast will be "tough to beat."

The "Seinfeld" co-creator and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator-star says the cast will appear together in the finale of the upcoming seventh season of the HBO comedy series.

It marks the first time in 11 years that Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards have appeared together on screen.

David says the "Seinfeld" stars will appear in five "Curb" episodes during the season in a storyline about the cast reuniting. He says he worked closely with Seinfeld on the show-within-a-show script.

He also says an actual "Seinfeld" reunion is unlikely.

The comments were made at a meeting of the Television Critics Association.

If the season 2 plotline where Larry tries and fails to develop a new show starring Jason Alexander, then Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is any indication, this is going to be hilarious. I loved both of them at different points saying, "George was just such an IDIOT" while Larry cringes because George was based almost entirely on Larry's own experiences. Larry (in real life) has stated numerous times that a Seinfeld reunion will never happen, so I'm guessing this season will be all about Larry being dragged into a reunion that he, and maybe several of the Seinfeld cast members, don't want anything to do with. He's the king of art imitating life imitating art (the "Producers" season is a perfect example) so I'm pretty excited about this.

There is a reason why shows end, even if they end while still popular and viable. Sometimes the reason is obvious and sometimes subtle, but it is still there and it doesn't go away with the passage of time. Sometimes you can catch lightning in a bottle, but once you open the bottle and allow it to escape, chances are pretty slim that you can catch that same bolt again. The energy has dissipated. Better to search for a new bolt of lightning. I can't recall a reunion show that was worth watching. Perhaps, this would be the exception, but history is not on its side.

I still watch Seinfeld reruns even though I've seen each episode at least half a dozen times, but I just can't get enthusiastic over the reunion idea. These things generally tend to be forced and just don't work...not to mention the cast members are not getting any younger so the whole premise of the original show, if there was one, can't be used.

This was the best cast ever...
Watching the re-runs over and over again, and they are still fresh
and very funny. What other show can say that - all these years later,
they are still fresh and still very funny.

Love Seinfeld, but the characters who made the show were George and Elaine. And I NEVER miss an episode (that I've seen 1000x in reruns) with George's parents.

Seinfeld was good, but Curb Your Enthusiasm is HILARIOUS! There are few funnier shows.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is better than Seinfeld, but it's funny, BECAUSE of Seinfeld.

If Larry really does a reunion, it should be in the context of a Curb your Enthusiasm arch where a Seinfeld reunion takes place. Then, he could have "Elaine" and "backstage Elaine," "George and backstage George" etc.

It would be funnier.
