After routine blood test..but this on INCLUDED vit.D levels...(Chemo screwed up both bone density AND vit. D it would appear)....and my sweet Doctor is writing a prescription for a MEGA D *3 and 4)...since I'd have to take 5 OTC pills to get what I need..same with Calicium....we are thinking the scripts will actually be less expensive than the drugstore shelf...I hope so!..

but..this was vrey timely for me....I never knew how important Vit D was....even more so in my case.

In North America the sun strikes at an angle and so you get much less effect from the sun. Also, if you are of African decent, with darker skin you get even less because darker skin blocks the sun's rays. So to minimize your chances of getting high blood pressure, cancer and diabetes you absolutely need to take every opportunity to get out there into some sunlight. Abandon the video games. And as often as possible take trips to Africa and the Caribbean. It will do wonders for you, in more ways than you will suspect.

I've increase my intake of vitamin D and I feel a heck a lot better physically and my well being too....

For a long while my health wasn't too good, was getting really, really sick especially with the flu bugs going around the last few years...

I really suggest that people do take this article seriously because it does help...

Best Wishes....

Is it safe like B vitamins or can you take to much?

It is a fat soluble vitamin so you could overdose (like vitamin A) but it is so difficult to obtain that the chance of overdose is very small.

B vitamins are water-soluble, hence the yellow P.

I am curious to the negative effects of to much vitamin-D as well as the window of acceptable usage amounts.

As do I, so I was very surprised when my recent lab results showed a deficiency. Now, I'm trying for a little sun after decades of hiding from it.

Too much "A" can cause toxicity. "D" supposedly not.

The form of "A" also matters.

My homeopathic doctor said that people of color actually need 3000-4000 IU; twice the dosage mentioned in this report. He explained that melanin slows down the rate of Vitamin D production, so it takes darker-skinned people much longer to produce sufficient amounts.
