New York Times:

The White House tried Monday to douse speculation that it might raise taxes on the middle class in violation of President Obama's campaign promise, just a day after two of his top economic advisers left the door open to such a move to rein in spiraling deficits.

obama has ALREADY imposed a middle-class tax increase.

obama signed the Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009, providing a major expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide health insurance to moderate-income families and illegal aliens.

Cap & Trade (cap & tax) will also impose higher energy costs due to an increase in a TAX imposed on the energy companies. Who do you think is going to pay for this???

Let's also talk about the "Bush" Tax cuts that will soon be expiring in 2010. obama is allowing them to expire. Ooops. obama has just allowed a tax increase to occur for MANY Americans.

So don't tell me that obama and his administration will not raise my taxes.
So don't tell me that his obamacare bill will not raise my taxes, because it will.

obama has lied and he will continue to lie to the American public to pass this sanfu of a health care bill.

OBAMA the CANDIDATE vs. OBAMA THE PRESIDENT = BIG TIME LOSS FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

He's given away the store, caved and cowered, and now we will have to pay for it . . . the people who already can't afford what used to be called a middle-class life.

At this point, you can't believe a "word" he says.

European style value-added taxing is most likely coming to America. I can't see any other politically feasible way to pay for all the stuff Obama promised. We'll see taxes on every stage of production of manufactured goods, which will then be passed on to consumers. Barack will try to spin it as being anything but a middle class tax hike, but that's exactly what it will effectively amount to. His worshippers will swallow it, but everyone else will know better.

Read the fine print in the health bill. They move rich down to $80,000 for seniors. Above $80,000 seniors will need to pay more on Medicare.
And the increased cigarette tax is not a tax?
Cap n trade is not a tax, it is a "pass through cost". My utilities will go up 4X, but it is not taxes?

There will be a special dispensation for those making less than $250K. All you have to do is carry around last years tax return and show it to the cashier, electric. co., gas pump, etc. If you do that you won't have to pay the extra tax on: soda, electricty, non-green gasoline, juice drinks, potato chips, etc.

McD and Walmart supported the minimum wage. They want to push out the smaller competitors. The mega corporations love government regulation and controls. It eliminates their smaller competitors.
Read the fine print on the health bills and you'll see why small companies will cut off employment at 9 people. They will not be able to afford the 10th employee.

Except a tax on anything they use which needed any energy to produce....such as food, clothes, furniture, housing, lighting, heat, cold.....etc..

Oh, and health care. Even if we take everything from the people who earn over $150,000 per household (or whatever the new middle class definition is) it won't be enough to pay for everyone else's health care.

Raise the federal tax on tobacco products to $3 a pack and use that revenue to pay for health care. Cigarette smokers need to face reality: they are addicts who are a drain on the health care system. Offer programs to help them quit. If they refuse to, let them pay for their own health care!

Why does this guy stick to his lies when he's already been outed? Geitner said the other day that they're going to have to raise taxes on the middle class to pay for all this junk. Did the liberals honestly not see this coming? Please.

I think the only thing we liberals didn't see coming was just how LOW the republicans and the right wing extremist were going to go. Really who would have thought the republican party would sell their country out this bad this fast? Even as a loyal life long member of the democratic party and a true liberal I never even believed the right wing would get so far down in the mud and make it so clear the entire country they really have no desire to try and work with our President. They will lie about anything and everything and hope that something sticks.

You're absolutely right, we should just let this unqualified joke of a president run wild and have whatever he wants. I mean, we let him have the stimulus package and that was CLEARLY a great idea. Unemployment didn't rise above 8% like he promised. Right? Right??

How is the republican party selling out it's country, by not kissing Obama's feet as he walks by and letting him have free reign to enact every liberal pork project that the liberals have ever wanted, regardless of the damage it will do (and is doing) to the country? The traitors!

Well, he just tossed Timmy under the bus for that.

The only way taxes won't have to go up is if we just add it to our deficit. "China, just put it on our tab." Taxes won't go up for us, but will inevitably rise to pay for it eventually.

Well you already are heading there - taxes on cigarettes, beer, soda, candy etc. Who do you think makes up the majority consumers? Don't forget our taxes on energy are going to go up/
It's only a matter of time before we'll pay more taxes to the IRS.

something tells me that BO could tell you to your face that he will tax your income 90%, tell you he has taken over the power to name your kids, pick where you live and tell you when you can go to the bathroom and you would still be the first in line to vote for him simply because he is a dem and thats all you care about.

Anyone who believes a government run health care system is for the better should take a look around the government run health care system that already exists. The Veterans Administration is probably the worst run system in the nation. Veterans were promised big benefits when they were needed, but the benefits have steadily disappeared because the government says they can't afford them anymore. It's a system full of incompetent doctors who lost their malpractice insurance in the private sector because of too many malpractice complaints. They go to work for the government so they can be covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act. Other doctors work there to pay off their student loans. They don't want to be there and can't wait until they can get into private practice. Before you jump on the Obama healthcare bandwagon, talk to the veterans about the GREAT healthcare they receive. Then decide if that's what you want.
