The Palestinian Ministry of Health issued on Tuesday a press release accusing the Hamas-run government in Gaza of barring dozens of patients, including patients with serious healthy conditions, from leaving the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment abroad.

Wow the story is so factually incorrect. The trouble faced by the sick in Gaza are not just because of Hamas. It is because of the rift between Hamas and Fatah. Hamas is not allowing Fatah to get the patients out and Fatah is stopping Hamas from doing the same. This fighting is slowing down the process of patient travel approval and govt. funding when both Israel and Egypt will only treat Gazan patients that have been certified and paid for by the Palestinian health ministry. The Gaza health ministry is still sending applications to Israel and Egypt for patient care, albeit this process is taking longer than usual. All have been denied, said the ministry, while the Egyptian authorities have been sending back patients who try and exit via Rafah.
Now the problem is further compounded by the IDF's blockade which prevents basic medical aide and equipment from reaching Palestinian hospitals. So the patients cannot be treated there and instead have to go to all the trouble of getting help in other countries--something that is extremely costly.
Nothing is as simple as it seems.

Observation:
Fatah is rapidly losing its grasp on the Palestinian government, thanks to the corruption of Abbas and his cronies. Accusing Hamas of blocking patients when it is Israeli warships off the Gazan coast, Israeli F-16s dropping bombs from the sky and even the Israeli government exercising its veto power at the Rafah crossing (something which often gets obfuscated in the pro-Israeli spin) is ludicrous. It may score Abbas points with Israel and its backers, but not among the Palestinian people they have sold out on.

How exactly is it that Hamas continually gets blamed for the Israeli blockade? It is Israel who is preventing Palestinians from traveling in and out of Gaza, not Hamas.

Thank you for reminding us there are Palestinians still living there! I will follow this story & hope their is a reasonable explanation, you know, like Israel carpet bombing the prison camp they built in Gaza & killing 1400 people for "security."
