Good. We're over populated as it is. A lull is needed.

You're so right! The rich get richer, the poor have children.

And falling birth rates not a bad thing.....

If you want to reduce your carbon footprint more than any reduce driving, recycling,
using green power etc. NOT having children is the best way to do it.

If we can not very well manage the planet wit 6 bill, we certainly can't do it with 9 or 10 bill on the planet.

Blessing in disguise....fewer children living better lives that are WANTED AND LOVED.

Don't see a down side here.

It hasn't even been 9 months since people realized we were in tough economic times.

You see, babies are better indicators of the economy than anything else.

Being a stay at home mom just isn't as attractive when it's not a choice......

Coming from a Catholic family of ten kids, believe me it is never good when religion dictates family planning. Let your financial circumstances be your guide.

Considering the condition of the world today much less the U.S. why would anyone want to have a child who would be condemned to live in this mess.

With abstinence a clear failure the GOP finally hit on an alternate solution.

People aren't aloud to raise their own kids anymore. We're arresting parents for things our parents deemed second nature when it came to punishment. I remember getting kicked out of the house at 7, 8 years old and told not to come back until dark. Now, you can't trust anybody to let your kids play in the back yard. I would never back talk my parents, it was just something I didn't do because of the healthy fear every child should have of their parents.

My point: It's hard enough raising one out of control kid, let alone two or three. I wouldn't be surprised if the birth rate continued to decline, even after the recession gets over. Being a parent is too hard when you have everyone else policing your every move.

Let me expose yet another elephant in the room....stupid has outbred this country 3-1 in the past 30 years. SMART educated people don't push out a lot of kids....that's why this will become a revolution eventually

Reaility is setting in after 8 years of exploding deficits, the real estate bubble and NO FAMILY JOBS....Go figure, why would you have children? Of course you still get married because it is cheaper to live with somebody than live alone.

"By the 1970s, birth rates were also affected by the rise of feminism and easier access to contraceptives and to abortion."

Why bring a child into a country where "ME MYSELF & I" mob mentality moves in for the KILL.

When the cost of childcare is $80.00 per day for one child (more than what many citizens earn in a hard-day's work), there'd be no money for basic necessities... food, clothing, shelter. And of course OVER THEIR DEAD BODIES ... under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ... will THEY grant a BI-RACIAL President the HONORARY distinction of reforming the basic NECESSITY of HEALTHCARE!

The last quarter century of failing leadership has left its toll. As our leadership continues the same disastrous policies, we are witnessing an actual decline in organizational membership. The members of the American Republic lose their jobs , livelihoods and purpose for staying in a failed outfit. Therefore, we are beginning to witness massive out-migration and fewer new citizens, even among our poor and poorest.
Our leaders have lost respect and confidence in the American people. Their antedote for American decline is more welfare, more debt rather than more jobs, fairer distribution of resources and virtually unlimited opportunity for the many. Now the opportunity resides with the intellectual as teacher and herder of the pliable masses and the bankers and speculators as the new directors of plutocratic rule.
Failing leaders direct the failing policies of failing membership of failing organizations. The inverse is true of successful organizations.

I am not sure that I understand how the richest 400 people paying 17% of their income in taxes and taking their so called business deductions for country clubs, jets and vacations is REdistributing Wealth (business deductions that we as taxpayer subsidize for the good of that corporation).....WAKE UP or are you one of the 400 club?
