Brennan

The Washington Independent:

I'll have a broader piece up soon about John Brennan's speech about counterterrorism, which in many ways represented a stark departure from several key tenets of the Bush administration's approach. But on one issue that I asked Brennan about, the president's chief adviser for counterterrorism and homeland security seemed reluctant to clear up an issue about the past.

Yes, it is pathetic when people become mindlessfollowersofanycultofpersonality. Obama asked us to keep him on track, and we should.

Barack O'Bush supporters WERE the faithful,
but it is very clear that with each passing moment
their eyes have been opened (as they must be).

We must all leave our delusions in the dust, if we still have any.

My question to the idiots who insisted on the surveallance of innocent Americans is this, what did they want to know? Did they want to know our cooking secrets, sorry, those go to my grave with me. Did they want to know what people I choose to talk with? None of thier business. This was a snooping expedition to weed out anyone whom they deemed a threat to Cheney's agenda. It wasn't about terrorism, they know 99% of us are about as harmful as a bad cabbage. Ya might get the trots, but you won't die from it. This was a desperation attempt to silence those of us who are speaking out against our government and thier actions. Cheney, the constitution grants us the rights to free speech. Nowhere in there did it grant you the right to spy on us without just cause, and by that, they mean real time cause, nothing you invented or self created. To the bastards who chose to spy on us? Chew on this, turn around is much worse than bad cabbage.

How do we know that the headline is right?

With Obama's appointment of him, and Obama's recent history of voting to give immunity to the telecoms who spied upon all of us and blocking access to information so that governmental activities are less transparent, could the headline be more accurate if it read: "Brennan Suggests He Is Playing Role In Domestic Surveillance"?

Perhaps, but perhaps Bush and Cheney really were almost the whole problem and war crimes prosecutions will flush out their accomplices, and that will suffice.

This guy couldn't come through the front door, so Obama opened the back door to him. Obama does a lot of stooping, especially for the Bush crooks and the dirty-hands people in the "intelligence" (i.e., murder and torture) services.

Birthers cry about too much government - where was their concern when Bush did this crime to us?

Appropriately laid to rest, because white people have NEVER done horrible things via government!

If he had tortured someone to death he'd be just about perfect for this administration.

The GOP is the party of torture and have attacked Obama for stopping the torture of women and children.

Of all the criminal legacies of the Bush Administration, domestic surveillance has to be one of the most egregious. Torture, extraordinary rendition, war profiteering, shredding our Bill of Rights ... and still no one held accountable. It's our national shame.

he's the cro ok President Obama appointed to a position that didn't require confirmation, over protests by the 'left'. I won't forget it. He should be hiding with cheeney, instead of working for Obama, and this nation.

It really seems that the right wing elements in the defense and intelligence establishments really co-opted Obama. I suspect they have a lot of dirt they need to hide and so they are eager to keep players in the game. Between the conservative defense establishment, the whole sale takeover of the fed by wall street, and the way the administration and congressional dems have sold out on health insurance reform, welcome to Bush 3.
