Shame on Oxfam. I shall no longer contribute to Oxfam, buy from their shops, or support them until they drop this very racist stance toward Ahava. This is absolutely silly. It saddens me, as a liberal, when the cause du jour is to bash the one functioning democracy in the region where women's rights, gay rights, and other basic rights. How sad, and how tragic.

Oxfam isn't known for their role in this conflict, maybe she found they parted ways ideologically in this issue

Goes to show you that charity does NOT begin at home for some people.

Kristin Davis clearly gives lip service to human rights. Do you think Bono, Angelina Jolie, or the late Audrey Hepburn would make the same choice if faced with the same predicament?

Wow. Bummer. I thought she had better ethics than that. Boycotting her stuff and the makeup.

I respect her for this. This is not a popular thing to do. I'll make it a point to support whatever she's in...even that wretched SITC2.

She is endorsing an Israeli company that Oxfam has an issue with. I'd respect her if she stopped endorsing them (the company that is).

She chose to leave the charitable organization rather than the Israeli cosmetics company. Interesting choice. Not one that I would have made.

Whoa, you respect her for choosing the cosmetic endorsement contract over her work for the human rights organization Oxfam?

Choosing the money instead of working toward ending human suffering--sad, really.

I wonder if that settlement employs Palestinian workers. Many do. hmm

I'm not sure what your point in say that was, but even if Palestinians work Israelis it doesn't take away from the fact that settlements are illegal and Israelis do use Palestinian resources. You can liken to African Americans being forced to share crop in the South, because they had no resources nor access to buying or controlling their own farmland and in order to feed hungry mouths, had to work as share croppers on the brink of slave wage despite laws against slavery, equality of "all" etc etc.

well, my point is, if you care about Palestinian issues, and want Palestinians to have economic prosperity, you have to care about Palestinian unemployment. And it might be worth investigating whether these factories provide economic opportunities to the very people we wish to help, before boycotting. I've heard tons of stories about Palestinians being able to feed their families only by doing work on settlements, or at factories in settlements. Just a thought.

Good for Oxfam, standing up to the illegal occupation and re-colonization of an ethnic people. At least somebody out there still recognizes conflicts of interest.

It would seem that IF Kristen Davis was that committed to Oxfam as she claims, she would have given up the Ahava gig, and would have continued to work with Oxfam.

I was just about to write this when I saw your post. She ditches the non-profit gig for the cosmetics endorsement? Phucking phony.

Makeup over human rights?
Boils down to $$$ over charity!
Too bad she never made any money on Sex & the City, she might have stayed with Oxfam. It's a shame that Sex & The City wasn't very successful.
