I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Via LiveLeak comes this raw video of a baseball fan getting tased by police at an Oakland A's game. According to the poster, the man became intoxicated after drinking several small bottles of vodka, and while he wasn't threatening, his behavior was extremely loud and obnoxious.

A security guard eventually summons the police, and the man continues his belligerent behavior, at one point thumbing his nose at the officers. Soon after they break out the tasers.

Do you think the tasing was justified? Discuss in the comments.

He deserved it. Any idiot who thinks he has the right to disrupt any public event like that by acting like a complete ass and not being considerate of others deserves to be put in his place. I hate cops in general, but that's just plain stupid to provoke anyone like that, let alone a cop. He was clearly belligerent.

And enough with the police bashing... there are good cops and there are bad cops. To put these cops in the same category as the assholes that abuse or hide behind their badge is just ignorant.

On top of that you clearly see there are other idiots in the crowd reacting without even knowing the extent of the situation. I think the cops did the right thing given the situation.

police chief william bratton abrupt resigns from los angeles police. you gotta believe this depression will soon bring violence and anarchy.

Bratton is leaving for several good reasons, the lifting of the consent decree being one of them.

He is also going to cash in, and you can't really blame him.

The LAPD has changed from a occupying force of storm troopers who come into the city to work from Simi Valley or the Magic Mountain area to a more responsive, community based modern police force under his wing.

Yes, he's leaving before his time is up, but he has hit all of his marks.

Like I have said in a post elsewhere, if the LAPD had handled this problem, the guy would be on his feet and walking out in a couple of minutes. I have seen it at Dodger Stadium many times.

It's called professionalism.

why are we allowing cops to carry and use these weapons?

I'd rather be tased then beat with a baton or pepper sprayed, if the officer made the wrong call to tase chances are without a taser they still would have made a poor decision with whatever other options they had ie.. pepper spray or baton.

"I think they are just high school bullies armed with tasers and guns. I really fear cops and I am a middle aged, upper middle class white woman. I can't imagine how difficult it is for poor and minority"

thinkingwoman:

Thank you for admitting that. You are appreciated! People say that the black community will not call the police when there is a problem. That is out of fear they will make the situation worst because it could cause an innocent person their life. This is generally the truth many times. My family is middle class, own a business, pay taxes and don't mind doing so. I fear the police and don't trust them. I avoid at all cost of having any contact with them. It shouldn't be that way but it is. Sometimes they are brutal and rude and they don't always have to be.

No, the cops should not have tasered this guy. They could have handled it much better. He may have been loud and obnoxious, but he didn't pose a threat to them.

Watch what happens in the background-at least one fan is nearly pushed down the stairs by the "security" people during the incident.

He was lucky security pushed him away.
He was intending to come to the drunk's defense, and if he had reached the officers it likely would have ended badly for him.

Yes, falling backward down concrete stairs would have been a much better outcome.

By the way, you don't know that he was going to get physically involved with the police-perhaps he saw a wrong and was going to try to right it using his voice.

Perhaps you think that if someone comes to the aid of a person being tortured with electroshock by the police, that person should be tortured too?

I think tasing the man was unnessary, due to the fact that they tased him when he was already handcuffed. My greatest issue is with the man in the background that was pushed down stairs by security. I personally know him & spoke to him about the sitution. He had asked security what was going on & video taping the incident, when the unprovoked security guard pushed him down the stairs. This action caused him physical injuries, which he does have pictures of. In the video, you can clearly see he was not a threat & was immediately pushed for no reason. He was there with his wife to enjoy the game & was not drinking alcohol. The Coliseum staff insist that the Oakland PD confirms he was trying to penetrate the barrier but it's obvious they did not see the incident & it's clearly not the case on the video. What's is the Oakland Coliseum going to do about it???

These cops and the rest of them are out of control and they need to be disarmed. All they do is escalate most common nonviolent calls so they can arrest someone or be able to torture someone. Support police reform before you or one of your family members become victims. Watch the videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/CopsOutofControl and then I dare you to come back and think this is right. Unless you are a cop. Then you'll probably laugh and high five yourself all the way through it. Uneducated, bullies.

I'm going to use the below information to call and praise the police. They are trying to do their job, he was beligerant. I think tasers are great. Better than guns, and kept the fued from escalating. Drunk and disorderly isn't appropriate at games or elsewhere. Where I'm from a lot of families go to ball games. His behavior isn't for children to have to tolerate.

So, it's better for children to watch police officers torture and injure citizens who do not immediately bow and scrape to authority?

By the way, what did his blood alcohol test out to?

Did you notice that the man was injured after being electro-tortured and falling down concrete steps, perhaps striking his head on a steel railing? Did you notice that the man was unable to arise and/or stand even with help from the police?

How is this outcome better than applying good police tactics and taking 5-10 minutes to defuse the situation?

Someone should have come to the drunk's defense and shot the cops dead. They were thugs. The drunk posed no threat to them, but they assaulted him because he did not worship their costumes.

I'd like to see you try to have a rational conversation with that heel. It's not torture, it's called getting some sense smacked into you.. or in this case tased. Torture? Don't be so dramatic.

Dig the internet for some news clips in Darfur... that's torture.

I don't know what this guy did or didnt do, but as a person who has been to many sporting events, I find it amazing how people feel they can do anything they want because they bought a ticket. I' ve seen and heard some horrible things at games, and I'm always for throwing people like that out. They ruin it for everyone.

Yes. He was acting like an ass and probably ruining it for everyone else. He didn't leave so he got tased. IMHO They should have beat him with the baton. Any moron who acts like that in public deserves to get the shit smacked out of him. Next time he'll know to be considerate.
