Why doesn't he just pay for insurance for all the uninsured? Why does it have to cost trillions of dollars to reform health care?? Another waste of our tax dollars.

You don't want to pay for other people but you want him to pay for you?

Its so encouraging to see a millionaire using his money for the good of the people. Usually millionaires use their money to keep the rich rich and the poor poor. Thank you Mr. Soros all the uninsured who cannot afford medical care, or that are bankrupt because of medical bills, are grateful to you.

Remember back in 2006 when Soros bought $62,000,000 worth of Haliburton stock?

I met him once. He has done as much as any man could to promote democracy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, even though history is often against it in many of those places.
12:47 AM on 08/11/2009
The jury is still out on his work bring democracy and prosperity to Eastern Europe. It is debatable if his work freed, or destabilized the region.

It is good that he is pledging money for the public good, but let's be real...5 million out of the 2 billion he profited from the financial out is less than half a percent. He can surely do better if he REALLY wanted to give more.

It's just public relations. Pure and simple.

Greeeattt... now we have to listen to the righties go on and on about "Soros-backed Obamacare" or "Soros-funded socialized medicine" They'll be screaming at George to keep his hands off their Medicare. Stir in Nancy Pelosi, and the talking point almost writes itself.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mr. Soros, you are the savior of all that is helpful and logical. We are doing our best here in San Diego, visiting our Senators and Congressmember, and will be going to town meetings to show our support for health care reform!

Thanks George. Every little bit helps since the healthcare lobby is spending 1.4 million per day - and thats just to lobby congress and doesn't include the TV and print campaign.
