I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As Michelle Obama's mother, Marian "First Granny" Robinson was enlisted to help the Obamas make their transition from Chicago to Washington, and she's been spending some quality time with her granddaughters and granddog. Check out how Mrs. Robinson keeps her poise in public and upholds the Obamas' down-home family values, all while displaying a preference for festive printed fabrics.

Mrs. R obviously gave her daughter a strong sense of confidence as well as a sense of fun with her wardrobe, regardless of whether we like all her choices or not. I say kudos to both for being themselves -- strong, smart, principled, independent women.

Hillary Moss, STOP, STOP CALLING HER A GRANNY!! Her grandchildren do not call her so, why do you? I find it interesting that neither Barbara Bush nor Nancy Reagan were ever referred to by that demeaning terminology yet Marian Robinson is constantly. This is not about political correctness it's about insensitivity maybe you don't consider her worthy of your respect but there are some of us who do. I can't believe you refer to your jewish grandmother as granny, nor do I think your mother would appreciate being called such nor do I believe you would embrace it.

So STOP IT!! REGARDLESS OF WHOEVER CALL HER THAT, MAKE IT YOUR BUSINESS TO NOT DO SO.

THANK YOU!

How do you know what she is or isn`t called? Granny is not disrespectful. Just another version of grandmother, grandmom, grandma, memaw.......ect.

It's easy to see where Michelle gets her fashion sense and elegance from.

Buy American, Wear Fashion that respects your age and it is HOW she raised her two great kids and the grand kids that counts- not the outer package.....this White House Family has it all. Love 'em all and just wish we could have gotta to know Mr. Obama's mother, maternal grandparents and father. The bright colors on Michelle and girls are refreshing and if wearing happy-relaxed big leg jeans gives the President a break from his suits-I say, Go Ahead, Prez, you deserve it.

Mrs. Robinson looks fantastic - not only in her age appropriate style, but the love and pride she has for her family. The warmth and respect the First Family has for each other is such a welcomed change from past administrations.

Thank you for celebrating age and wisdom - what a vibrant woman with still so much to give. Raising children like Michelle and her brother, who strive hard to achieve and have the emotional stamina and resilience to keep going in tough times, is no small feat. Mrs. Robinson should consider writing a book and sharing her parenting wisdom. (And she looks great too).

What a fun grandma! She reminds me of a childhood babysitter I had who was also a barrel of fun and a great person. The Obama girls are blessed.

I can't believe people are using this as an excuse to pit Michelle against her own mother! Why do some women have to make everything a competition?

Just wondering why mom's fashion savy didn't rub off on daughter that's all. I can't believe people are getting upset over comments about a President's wife's lack of fashion sense, when their whole country is going to hell in a handbasket. There's the real mystery.

MO needs help with her wardrobe. Mrs. Robinson dresses very well on a consistent basis.

If a woman's mother can't help her work on her style for a new position/responsibilities, who can?

Mrs. Robinson would surely do better than the a$$hat who has been advising MO.

I love the active presence Michelle's mom has as part of the 'first family'
They are all so down to earth. What you see is what you get. They don't bother putting on fronts for the public. They are a beautiful example of how we should all live our lives. "Be Yourself and Keep it Real"

Michelle AND her beautiful mom have a great sense of style. Both are not afraid to be bold and adventurous with their stylings (checking out Granny's double pierced ear). Love it!

First Grandma look wonderful. It sure would've been nice if the President mother could be apart of this wonderful time.

She's a favorite of mine.

Imagine her pride on inauguration day -- second photo.

I know she is a granny, but I wish the media would drop that label. It sounds so ancient, so....I don't know. Maybe it's just me hanging on to youth.

In my old-school opinion, it's just too familiar for people outside of the family and close friends to call her "granny." She's the mother-in-law of the POTUS, and she deserves respect and being addressed with her name.
