'That's Gay' Host Goes Undercover To Investigate Gay Characters In TV Ads (VIDEO)

This week on Current TV's "Infomania," Bryan Safi, arbiter of all things gay, took on the advertising world. In an in-depth and surprising piece he showed his viewers first how homosexuality is used as a punchline in ads, next how it's used subtly in mainstream ads to entice gays without freaking out the heteros, and lastly how ads are recut for the straight and gay worlds so as not to offend.

Oh I noticed it in the Progressive ad and I saw the yogurt with the "honey" in it as well. I didn't think anything of it I wouldn't care if I saw gays in commercials. they buy stuff too!

About the gay yogert ad, the first version actually did air on prime time network television (not sure whitch one). However, I guess after a few people complained, it was taken off the air and edited so the word "honey" is not heard.

I had noticed the HRC logo in that Orbitz.com ad, but I didn't catch the pride flags in any of those other commercials. I guess this is sort of, maybe, kind of Progress... right?
