Thank you for highlighting an article that starts to call out a few of the many frauds in eco marketing. If they market it as eco friendly, be suspicious of some brand manager artificially hyping some irrelevant factor to mislead consumers.
First, if it is advertised some one is pumping in big dollars to mislead consumers.

Citrasolve probably has citric acid in it.

There is just no need for commercially produced "green cleaners," and the ingredients on the labels I've read have made it astoundingly apparent they are rip offs.

I use a solution of white vinegar and water for all my cleaning. I've used it for years, and it works just fine. For more stubborn stains in sinks and so on I use Bon Ami cleaners, which is inert. For some reason it's difficult to find, but it can be located.

the other brand is called barkeepers friend. They are much better for a lotta surfaces that say do not use cleansers on them (fiberglas tubs etc) . The abrasive is feldspar it's much finer and gentler on surfaces. And usually stores have one or the other. You can also get a creme paste usually from plumbers it's pink and has the same ingredients but I've only been able to get it from plumbers.

You really can't equate Barkeepers' friend with Bon Ami. Barkeepers contains oxalic acid, which can be related to breathing difficulties, skin irritation and skin burn, severe eye irritation and convulsions, nausea, and shock if ingested. In comparison, Bon Ami’s active ingredients are feldspar, calcium carbonate, and sodium carbonate. These occur naturally, and none of them are associated with any severe health irritation.

I'm not sure if they're still made- but the Green Imus Ranch cleaning supplies I purchased were terrible.
