Buzz Machine:

I have cancer, prostate cancer.

When the doctor told me, he said that if you're going to get it, this is the one to get. It made feel as if I'd just gotten an upgrade on Cancer Air. It was caught very early, found in only 5 percent of one of 12 samples gathered by shooting a harpoon gun into me (where, you don't want to know). So I am lucky.

best of luck and speedy recovery to you. Hopefully, after you recover and you will recover, perhaps you can write about how lucky you were to have good health care, unlike many, many Americans, and most of all, you can write about how this did not drive you into bankruptcy, like many American WITH health insurance.

Best of luck & a speedy recovery to you, Mr. Jarvis. My maternal grandfather died of prostate cancer 7 years ago, & if anything good can come out of that horrible experience, it's my hope that all men have their PSA checked regularly once they're 50 years old.

Look at all the tests he had. Twelve samples and they found the cancer in only part of one of the samples (5% article says). I wonder if this "excessive testing" in the private sector would be allowed under a Government developed Public Option ?

Open your mind. Read and interpret what Mr. Jarvis said.
1) He never said he was tested 12 times. Those 12 samples most likely were retrieved in ONE TEST or procedure.
2) He obviously has existing insurance which he will be able to keep - no one's forcing you to change to a Gov't Insurance Plan.
3) Even if he had done 12 tests (which he most likely did not), the President has repeatedly said that sharing the single test among your different doctors increases efficiency and lowers costs by not repeating those tests. It is simply an option of reaping cost benefits while improving quality of care.

Is this a dig at Chris Dodd? In our health climate - this is barely funny. A hungry writer who needs exposure? I am confused.

I have to agree. I don't want anyone to be ill. But I had absolutely no idea who this person is. Looked him up on wikipedia. Writer about TV and entertainment.

Oh, the media writing about itself. Something new.
