Government Executive:

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., is calling on the Obama administration to correct problems that have left thousands of refugees and asylum seekers in the United States in legal limbo or in jail, saying if action is not taken he is prepared to seek a legislative remedy.

Inaccurate header. The fact is that the previous administration passed or more restrictively administered certain laws that left many immigrants in an unwarranted legal limbo. Leahy, as is his duty, is simply bringing this to the attention of the President and offering possible solutions. Really, is there any need for tabloid headlines?

Go Leahy! There are people dieing in privately ran ICE detention centers that don't receive medical treatment. They don't let them go because the Fed pays them by the head. It's a heinous tragedy but hey, it's just a bunch of mestizos, so who cares right?

This is another aspect of the for profit prison system we have here that Jim Webb is championing.
we have 5% of the world's population, and 25% of the world's prisoners. And guess who is a major stock holder in the private prison business.. Cheney, Haliburton, et. al.
