Levi Johnston: Palin Resigned Due To Marital Problems

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 9/11/09 Updated: 5/25/11

In an interview with Radar magazine, Levi Johnston agreed that marital problems were a factor in former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's resignation.

"Shes taking the money, you know," he said. Asked if Palin and her husband had marital problems, he said, "Oh yeah, they have been from day one" and affirmed that he believed it was part of reason she stepped down. Johnston would not go into any further details, saying only that he didn't mean to imply that either of them cheated.

Johnston has said before that Palin resigned for financial reasons. "I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars," he said at a news conference last month. He has also suggested that the 2008 campaign "got to her head."

"Being up there and running for vice president -- it's totally different than governor. There are cameras every day, she had Secret Service, you name it. And just seeing how she acted after it was all gone, I just think that it definitely got to her head," Johnston said during a Today show interview.

Sarah Palin has aggressively denied rumors that she and Todd Palin are getting a divorce.
