FREEPORT, N.Y. — A New York man is accused of leaving his ailing mother on the floor and stepping over her for two days before calling 911.
Police in Nassau County on Long Island say the 64-year-old woman fell in her kitchen Tuesday in Freeport.
By Thursday, she had dragged herself toward the front door. The son, Lacy Reid, found her there lying face down, malnourished and dehydrated.
She was taken to a hospital, where she suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest. She was listed in critical condition.
Reid is awaiting arraignment on a reckless endangerment in Hempstead. The district attorney's office says it doesn't have the name of his lawyer.
