As the United States re-fortifies its presence in Central Asia -- planting military bases and extending supply lines to neighboring Afghanistan -- many observers are asking if Washington's human rights agenda will take a backseat to a more steely-eyed realpolitik.

We don't have a moral leg to stand on when it comes to human rights. We start pushing these countries about human rights and we will be made out to be the hypocrites that we are. We are the country that captures prisoners illegally in foreign countries without the extradition authorization that international law requires and take them to Gitmo or other countries and torture and kill them. That's human rights you can't look up to.

Since a lot of this is perpetrated by China, there is not much we can say. Don't want to upset them now do we.

What we can do if you like is send Hillary to some countries that don't have much oil and tell them we are looking at their human rights record.

Once we stop imprisoning millions of innocent Americans/ Imprisoning hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis/Afghanis is the moment we can start accusing China of egregious acts..And once we pay our trillion dollar debt....then we can throw stones..

No doubt there are plenty of innocent Americans in US jails, but "millions?" LOL.! And I don't believe we actually control many Iraqi prisons these days, and in any case we never imprisoned hundreds of thousands. You certainly are given to hyperbole.

And what does our national debt have to do with our stand on human rights in Central Asia?
