Whats up with huffpost getting a lot of their information from the WSJ. You can't call yourselves a progressive site, then quote a paper like the WSJ so often. I dislike lobbyists as much as the rest, but you don't need to quote the WSJ to find out that lobbyists still wield power in Washington. I mean just watch the town hall meetings airing on tv.

Simply make "lobbyist" fees and expenses a NON tax DEDUCTIBLE BUSINESS expense and require ALL gifts and donations from ANY LOBBYIST to be TAXABLE INCOME . . . so we taxpayers will no longer "subsidize" extensive Golf Trips, Fishing Jaunts and various Industry Sponsored Boinkfests . . .

That would be a great start. I am sure there would be more work arounds by the weasels, but honest folks can find a way to stop them. Somehow I dont see Harry Reid forcing this issue...not holding my breath.

Corruption. Al Capone's boys paid off cops and judges. Lobbyists pay off politicians.

Bad drivers pay higher car insurance premiums.

If you live in a flood or earthquake zone you pay more for homeowner's insurance.

If you are an older person life insurance costs you more. Not for nothing.

If it can be shown with some certainty that fat people are at greater risk of illness or disease then perhaps their health insurance premiums should be higher.

If we did this inevitably some fatsos would take the hint and lose some weight especially if they had a reduction of health insurance premiums as an incentive, not to mention better health which should be incentive enough.

Are there any arguments in favor of obesity?

My neighbor got all kinds of flak for smoking so she quit. Now she picks on overweight people all the time. It's a weird world.
If we had health care reform we would be treated equally and healthy living would encouraged.

Bush and the neo cons set up "K" Street ( which is what the photo should say, not "Lobbyist Street") So that the corporations could finally control ALL of government, not just part of it.
They prolly told Obama he could "TRY" for health reform...........hehehehehehe good luuuuuuck!" But hands off the banks, fella, do it the way Bush would have if he'd, uh...implemented NSPD 51.
Hell, they prolly told him whom to pick for Treas Sec too.

The presidency ain't what it used to be, my friends

What's going on? Are we going to create another class of people to hate and blame for our own self inflicted miseries? I guess it's OK to pull the plug on over weight Americans! Tish is just another ploy by the insurance industry to tweak the minds of people who love to hate, giving them a new category of justifiable premium increases. Why is everyone expected to look like a skinny wench? Does that mean someone as skinny as Ann Coulter doesn't have to pay premiums at all? Obviously, she has some sort of malady which is costing plenty to control. Too bad the control doesn't include her mouth! I'd pay for those premiums!

You are absolutely correct! I was responding to the question of whether or not overweight people should pay more for insurance. How my comment made it to this thread is a mystery to me! Maybe, HP has a glitch that needs to be fixed.
