Dostum kicks a$$, and that is what we need in a leader for Afghanistan. All you'll be able to see is the backs of the Taliban if this man grabs the reins, and burqas will turn back into cut up dish rags again.

Dostum is, and has been, the most efficient leader in the country. If we supported him and let him run things, he'd settle the Taliban's hash for them in quick time.

Dostum and his like reduced Afghanistan to such a state that the people were delighted at first when the Taliban took over.

We shouldn't be involved in this squalid mess.

He's certainly pretty efficient in eliminating opposition.

Afghan Prez Karzai has played America the same way Pakistani dictator Musharraf played them. And now, the administration is watching passively as Karzai teams up with warlords to steal the election. A few days ago he passed an absurd law that allows men to starve women if women deny their men sex!!! What kind of changes are American dollars and blood bringing to Afghanistan?

The type of changes understood by corporate and military industrial complexes.

In fairness to Dostum it should be reported what Ahmed Rashid said about Dostum.

"But unlike other warlords Dostum ran an efficient administration with a functioning health care (!?!?) and educational system. Some 1,800 girls, the majority dressed in skirts and high heels, attended Balkh University in Mazr."

Of course Dostum played every end of the Afghani conflict, from the Soviets to the Taliban to Massoud.

But Afghanistan was and is a tough place.

And atrocities have been common place in the never ending war.

You mean Hamid Karzai is going rogue? I thought the fella was our ally? Oh, I forgot that he's a pure product of US corporate thievery and greed. He got the goose (Presidency), saw the golden eggs (power, money...) it lays and now he's hooked to the neck. My prediction is that it would take the US military to stage a coup to remove Karzai from power after his second and last term as required by the Afghan "constitution".

Yep, an 'ally' going rogue is pretty normal in this world. When the US corporate thievery and greed is shamelessly running the show at home they will do the same everywhere they can.

Having courted him in the run-up to the first Bush Parade of Wars, Rumsfeld must feel so proud. Is Dostum still on the CIA payroll?

OUR thugs, on our payroll, always find

worse thugs to do the bidding.

a downward spiral.

the US will stage another coup or invasion

to replace one thug with another,

and start the spiral all over again.

time-tested method around the world.
