I hope President Obama and Rahm Emanuel push ahead with their plans, but, and correct me if I am wrong, so far absolutely NOTHING has happened. In fact, the settlements have continued to grow, the settlers are running Palestinians out of their homes with the help of the Army right up to this very minute, and the settlements are EXPANDING.

It is not enough to be criticized for talking tough while acting like a pushover.

We need actual action. In both ending the settlements and creating a public health care option. NOW.

3 things:
1. Some jews are not to betaken seriously when it comes to Israel (Ilan Pappe, Finkelstein, Pipes ,and such... notice: both extreme right and left.
2. Nobody branded antisemitic for "resisting the state of Israel's policies". Sometimes even proudest of zionists both in Isr and abroad are stunned by decisions of the Isr government and are resisting it by voting opposition to power.
On other hand SOME of those who "branded antisemitic or worse" are antisemitic and deserve that label. Believe me it's very easy to spot...
3. Absolutely agree on R. Emanuel. I feel that he is a great American who is also true friend of Israel. As a true friend he points to Israelis that some of their policies are detrimental to their own cause. Most Israelis I know appreciate his perspective.

The article, the headline here really smears Israel as a nation.

And I say this as child of Christian parents who is agnostic.

First, by the looks of the commentors here you assume that ALL of Israel feels this way.

How did you like it when Europeans assumed that ALL Americans were like George Bush and Cheney.

Israel is a diverse society with both right and left wings.

What is pathetic here is the Politico "reporter" presents no polls, no numbers, nothing but anectodal evidence. Now to be fair to him, had the commmeters openened the email he makes it clear the hostility if from the far right of Israel.

Israel, like many developing/unstable nations really needs a generational shift, achieved through elections.

Thats all well and good, however it must be pointed out that so far, not only have there not been any settlements torn down, but settlements are expanding and Palestinians are being removed from their homes at record pace. Neither Obama nor Emanuel have done ANYTHING but talk yet. We have had enough Talk.
