Steve Harvey Joins "Good Morning America"

Steve Harvey is joining ABC's "Good Morning America," where he will deliver "a series of reports on topics ranging from relationships to parenting over the next few months," according to a network press release.

Harvey currently has a morning radio show, "The Steve Harvey Morning Show," which airs in 60 markets nationwide. His first report is scheduled to air this Wednesday, August 19.

Harvey spent seven years starring on the WB's "The Steve Harvey Show" and is a #1 New York Times bestselling author.

"He will bring his own unique perspective, style and humor to morning television while interacting with viewers around the country via ABCNEWS.com, Skype and live guests in-studio," ABC said in the announcement.

You may not like Steve Harvey, but he is right on a lot of things he is saying.

I like his comedic style, but I'm not sure it fits with the vibe at GMA. I just hope he doesn't 'water down his style' any more than is necessary for morning television.

Comedians get tired of clubs and traveling so they look for permanent, stable jobs. Steve is slowly redeeming himself after years of backstabbing friends (Bernie Mac, to name one) and his ex-wife Mary, but why does my gut tell me that he didn't write that book? I just have a feeling. He doesn't seem like the type who could write a book like that. It's the same feeling I got about J. K. Rowling and Harry Potter; something doesn't seem right about the way she said she started writing those books on a napkin while on welfare. Hmmmmm.....

I'm retired and don't get up until after 9:00. So it's likely that I won't see much of Steve. He's been on The View several times and was a great guest. When I get up in the morn, I prefer local fare, but I wish Steve the best.
