Jared Polis Does Beer Bong With Stephen Colbert (VIDEO)

On Monday night, Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) appeared in a segment of "The Colbert Report." Stephen Colbert paid the openly gay freshman congressman a visit on Capitol Hill to discuss, among other things, his sexual orientation and an article where he described Congress as "like going back to college."

When asked about this comparison, the Congressman replies with a smirk, "yes." What follows is an engagement that leads Congressman Polis to "doing a beer bong" with comedian Colbert. As Colbert whips out a six-pack of Coors Light, the Congressman laughs, "Oh good, from Colorado."

Is Congress really "like college"? Probably not, but at bare minimum this comical segment allows us to better imagine what it would look like if our congressmen were actually doing beer bongs on the House floor.

Uninformed HuffPost editors,
A 'bong' is a water pipe through which one smokes pot. A 'beer bong' is a water pipe that substitutes the water for beer. Jared Polis did NOT drink beer from a beer bong. THAT would be NASTY! He drank beer from a 'flume' (I'm sure it has other names, too), and THAT was POLITICAL SUICIDE, given the problems with binge drinking among high school and college-aged idiots.
I love the HuffPost, but I'm embarrassed by the editing.

To be "cool", you have to drink the whole beer (not just half of it, passing the backwash to someone else). It's commendable that he even tried to do it at all, but still a FAIL. Did he not go to college? Usually, people who have been to college can do it upside-down with no hands and blindfolded, they've done it so many times (whole beers at that, sometimes multiples). I wouldn't trust a guy who says he's been to college and can't do a beer b0ng.......it either means he never actually went to college at all, or that he went, but didn't get out much (and that is really what college is about.....besides that document that you get at the end, signed by someone you've never met, who attests that you know what you know {although the Dean doesn't know you, and can't possibly certify that you know anything at all}). At least most people never forget how to beer b0ng.

That's not a beer bong. We always called it a beer funnel because, well, it's a funnel. Maybe because you look like you are hitting a bong, kinda? I dunno. I don't really remember a lot of my early twenties or what we called things.

FWIW, in H.S. (on the West coast) we called them "beer bongs" and in college (on the East coast) we called them "Funnels"... Likely a regional thing...
