Jasmine Fiore, Swimsuit Model, Found Dead And Stuffed In Suitcase

08/18/09 10:21 PM ET   AP

Dumpster Body

BUENA PARK, Calif. — A body that was found stuffed in a suitcase and thrown in an Orange County trash bin has been identified as that of a 28-year-old former swimsuit model who disappeared over the weekend.

Police said Tuesday that Jasmine Fiore had been strangled.

Lt. Gary Worrall says police want to speak with Ryan Alexander Jenkins, of Alberta, Canada, who reported her missing Saturday night after he reportedly took her to a poker party in San Diego the night before.

Los Angeles police investigators realized Monday evening that the description of the body found Saturday morning in Buena Park matched the description of Fiore given by her mother.

Fiore had recently moved to Los Angeles from Las Vegas and had appeared in an ad for Howard Stern's radio show.

"It is the weak who are cruel; Kindness can only be expected from the strong."

"You might be considered an insecure person when you need to re-reach your lost equilibrium by insulting someone else."

"Most people want to put you in your place and more often than not, your place is below theirs."

The point here is that one can point fingers all day long, insult and harshly criticize, and jump up-and-down with joy when someone else that you have judged and condemned is "chopped down to size" but these are hallmarks of an emotionally immature person.

This is sad. Things like this tend to happen when young girls try to use their looks and bodies to get a ahead. I feel sorry for the family.

Why are you blaming the woman in this? Things like this tend to happen when society blames the victim instead of the perpetrator of the crime.

Things like this tend to happen when a person wants to severely hurt or kill another person.

End of story.

As disgusting as this murder is, the reaction here is disgusting as well.

People are using terms like "life choices" and "plastic surgery" as the first step in their dehumanizing her so they can blame her for her own murder. Most won't admit they have taken the next step, but it will follow.

I used to come to this site every day. When HuffPo launched, there were many informed and articulate commenters. This was a site where you could actually find stimulating discourse.

Those days are over.

The comments section has become overrun with trolls and with people making obscene, nasty, vile comments, such as the comments on this particular article. The idea that a woman is murdered by her husband is some kind of a joke, is sick. The people commenting are not the ones who were here a few years ago. A young woman was murdered. It's not a joke.

This place has become a cesspool. The moderators are asleep at the wheel. I don't know why people are continually allowed to essentially vandalize this place. I'm not interested in reading the comments of the Birthers, or the anti-Obama crowed, or the fans of Beck/Rush/Hannity/Coulter - I just don't care what they have to say because in my view they are wrong from the off, so nothing else they say can possibly make any sense. And at any rate, they are only here to antagonize, not to inform or to debate.

I'm over this site. I wish the moderators had done a proper job because this site used to be something worth visiting.

The bottom line is this young lady was murdered, and put in a trash can or bin as if she was nothing. She was someone's daughter, niece, friend, neighbor, and all are hurting. This killer has got to be found because he may strike again.
07:07 PM on 08/19/2009
Thank you for reminding us of her humanity...She was someone's daughter, niece, friend, neighbor, and all are hurting.I could not have said it better! I do not understand this need to take another persons life. It is all about us and the rest of you be damned.

"Her mom, Lisa Lapore, said Fiore left LA for a poker tournament in San Diego with Jenkins last Thursday and her suitcase was "packed to the gills."

It was "probably the same one she was stuffed in" Lapore told the Los Angeles Times."

If this quote is correct, I find her mother utterly insensitive.

Her mother was probably in shock. Give her a break.

Noreast- I guess Giselle Bundchen, Brooke Burke and a dozen other SI models are all moonlighting as strippers...I wish!
08:15 PM on 08/19/2009
Noreast, I want to see if I understand your point here:

There are a variety of "jobs" such as stripper, swimsuit model, hooker, etc., that appeal to the "baser" emotions of men (sexual attraction). And there are a number of men, probably because of a lack of self-control, who will give way to other "base" emotions, such as rape and murder. This is undeniably true.

However, you could just make this point and move on. Since you are pushing it so strongly, I have to wonder JUST WHAT IS YOUR POINT? Because the territory you are exploring is edging dangerously close to "blaming the victim", which is completely unacceptable no matter how you rationalize the situations surrounding it. Does the fact that this woman was a swimsuit model make this any less of a tragedy? No it does not.

We all live in this modern society, which is founded on the rule of law. We are all entitled to certain expectations, such as that other members of our communal society will behave in a moral and rational manner. No one should "expect" to get killed as a result of the line of work they choose to enter.

Have a little compassion for the untimely demise of another human being, and stop blaming her for being a victim. She may have made the choice to enter what some see as a "questionable" profession, but that DOES NOT mean that she deserved to be murdered.

Why does she look plastic?
04:59 PM on 08/19/2009
She was a Carrot Top groupie.

lol "Carrot Top groupie" just when you thought there was way to lower yourself further... someone sets a new record.

She is...other pics show her with implants, and other various enhancements..
05:21 PM on 08/19/2009
Why didn't she get a chin implant? I wonder if she had low self esteem and that's why she was w/this dude.

American values rear their ugly head again.

For those of you who somehow think you are beyond reproach, let me ask you...
How would you be perceived, scrutinized through the eyes of the public?
You don't know this girl.
This girl was a "swim suit model". How dare you call her names and say she deserved it. Even if she were a street walker, people should be up in arms. This man is a murderer!
What he did was heinous...
Maybe we should say about obese people that they should be slaughtered for their sin of gluttony... I'll bet those of you whom negatively commented would fall under this category... Do not judge her, she is a victim...One day, you could be as well...
05:38 PM on 08/19/2009
I agree but we can't call him a murderer yet, he's presumed innocent until proven otherwise, they haven't' even questioned him. IMHO she got involved w/a man who did not respect women, kind of like the gym shooter.
08:51 PM on 08/19/2009
Well, someone murdered her; she didn't stuff herself into that suitcase. If it wasn't the suspect, it was someone like him.
02:53 PM on 08/19/2009
So horrible. What's wrong with the world?
03:13 PM on 08/19/2009
Judyx, this is the type of society you get when you exclude God from everything. Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of whack nut fruitcakes who do a ton of wrong in the name of God as well.

No wonder so many people are confused.

I believe an absence of real honest and pure spirituality will result in pure unadulterated and unchecked evil

That's terrible, but I've always wondered how a body gets stuffed into a suitcase.

Sorry for her family.

Nancy will no doubt blame the female victim on her looks, choice of clothes, the fact that she's a model.

The Stern Connection doesn't make any sense. He doesn't do ads, print or broadcast.

They have a Miss Howard TV every month, so maybe she was that at one time.
