VIENNA — Iran has lifted a yearlong ban and allowed U.N. inspectors to visit a nearly completed nuclear reactor as well as granting greater monitoring rights at another atomic site, diplomats said Thursday.

International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors visited the nearly finished Arak heavy water reactor last week, the diplomats told The Associated Press. Separately, they said Iran agreed last week to IAEA requests to expand its monitoring of the Natanz uranium enrichment site, which produces material for nuclear fuel that can be further enriched to provide fissile material for warheads.

The diplomats demanded anonymity because their information was confidential.

The agency had been seeking additional cameras and inspections of the Natanz site, to keep track with the rapidly expanding enrichment program which – if modified – can make the fissile core of warheads.

Iran's stonewalling had raised agency concerns that its experts might not be able to make sure that some of the enriched material produced at Natanz is not diverted for potential weapons use.

Since its clandestine enrichment efforts were revealed more than six years ago, Iran has steadily increased activities at its cavernous underground facility at Natanz, a city about 300 miles (500 kilometers) south of Tehran, shrugging off three sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions and rejecting talks meant to entice it to mothball the activity.

A June IAEA report said nearly 5,000 centrifuges were now enriching at Natanz – about 1,000 more than at the time of the last agency report, issued in February – with more than 2,000 others ready to start enriching. A new report due in the next week or so is expected to confirm that operations continue to expand – along with Tehran's potential capacity to produce weapons-grade uranium.

Most experts estimate that the more than 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds) of low-enriched uranium Iran had accumulated by February was already enough to produce enough weapons-grade material through further enrichment for one nuclear weapon.

Tehran says it has a right to enrich, insists it is not interested in making weapons and has no intention of reconfiguring its operations from churning out nuclear fuel-grade material to highly enriched uranium suitable for nuclear arms.

Before lifting the ban on visiting Arak, Tehran had repeatedly refused IAEA inspection requests, despite warnings by the agency that its stance contravened mutual agreements.

Western countries have repeatedly called on Iran to stop construction of the reactor, fearing it could be used as a second track toward building a warhead. When finished, say experts, Arak could produce enough plutonium for a nuclear weapon each year.

Indeed, if nuclear armament is considered destabilizing then its reasonable to assume that Israel should be confronted as a rogue nuclear power...

Israel needs to attack now before the world finds out that Iran is not building nuclear weapons like those pesky Iraqis were doing.

Iran has just agreed to allow the IAEA to inspect their nuclear sites again, so I'm afraid it'll have to be a false flag as usual.

A small but significant step. They do not want to be outdone by North Korea. The new foreign policy team, under the directioon of HRC, is doing a wonderful job already.

There has been a lot of forward momentum since Jan. 20th on foreign policy. And it has all been done quietly, just a little fanfare, but nonetheless it's getting done.

Thankyou to all that are making things happen!

Meaningless!
The Revolutionary Guards, Baseej, and many Ayatollahs are making money Hand Over Fist because of the sanctions which make smuggling, a High Iranian Art for centuries and centuries, doubly, triply, ten-times more profitable. The last thing the men who are controlling Iran today want is for the sanctions to be lifted. That is the great fear that made outright and cruel repression of the people so advantageos and desirable for them. How in the world they allowed this opening of the nuclear site is a mystery. No doubt, heads will roll!
Repeat this: The Iranian Establishment LOVES the Sanctions! It is the people, who do NOT count who do not them. To the Iranian Establishment, lifting the sanctions means cozying up with the outside world and a loss of muggling profits! The traditional profit-takers in Iran are more than happy to let ignorant thugs at the head of the Revolutionary Guard, Ignorant Baseej thugs get rich. Why not?
Working to lift the sanctions is High Treason to not only Khameini and Ahmadi Nejad, but also Rafsanjani!

Sounds like it might be time to lift the sanctions. And if we go green and world oil prices plummet due to oversupply, hmmmmm. . . .

I commend Iran for calling Israel and the US' bluff. Now how about getting Israel to belong to the IAEA and allow inspectors into Israel? Oh, sorry. The Holocaust entitles them not to belong to any international organisation. Shucks!! Now Israel will have to do yet another false flag. But the Holocaust allows them to do that.

On point, and Israel will have the blessings of their main stooge the United States.

I wouldn't call you antisemitic. Just a jerk. It has nothing to do with the Holocaust and everything to do with the countries that surround Israel.

Rubbish. Any criticism of Israel is always retaliated,, not with the truth, but the charge of antisemitism. To prove my point, when the largest and most prestigious newspaper in Sweden published the fact that the Israeli government --not a bunch of silly rabbis in new york--have been killing young Palestinian men and doing autopsies to harvest their organs to be sold on the black market. This was based on a full investigation by the Swedish newspaper, and Uruknet has even published gruesome photographs. Funny, you didn't read this in the New York Times. The Israeli government has responded predictably with charges of antisemitism. The Holocaust has provided Israel with enough cover for Israel to justify doing whatever it likes with impunity and the charges of antisemtism are getting boring because it is not backed by facts. Enough is enough.

So what's the news on Iran's approval of the UN inspectors? here? I'll tell you what's news: Israel now wants USA to demand the UN to demand from Almadinejah to show how much poo is left in his underwear, reason goes that he is conducting human violations walking all around Iran with his whiff.
In other words, nothing, NOTHING, will ever satisfy Israel purpose of US destroying Iran as we did to Iraq, before destroying Syria; in other words, whoever do not allow Israelis to profit from their wealth, war to them... And terror threats to us, you and I and my children; and wings to our US taxpayer's money.
I am stunned: Iran has shown they have no reason for being cursed at. As they always stood at.
I am telling you: the only way to obtain peace on this world is to get rid of Zionism.
