Jon Stewart Gives Props To Barney Frank (VIDEO)

By now we have all seen the signs, heard the shouts, watched the footage of protesters calling Obama a nazi for trying to reform health care. And, until this week, they had all gotten away with it. Enter Barney Frank. At a health care town hall in Dartmouth, MA, a woman asked, "Why are you supporting this nazi policy?"

Frank responded with a question asking,"On what planet do you spend most of your time?" He called her question "vile, contemptible nonsense," and said "Trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table." The latter statement has already become an Internet meme.

Jon Stewart gave Frank "snaps" last night and suggested other insults he could use in the future.

I can't even imagine the train of thought that would take one from health care reform to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's. It would be in the best interest of pharmaceutical and health insurance companies to hire rabble-rousers to encourage fear and hatred at the town hall meetings. Pharmaceutical companies have so much money that they produce commercials for their prescription medications. All that our laws require is that they list possible side effects. (Which would scare me off immediately) I would like to see these commercials banned. Health insurance companies have been raking in billions of dollars with very little oversight. So before you take these Nazi-shouters seriously, follow the money. Who gains by their protests? Write to your Representatives, too. Let them know that you are watching them and who their big contributions come from. If they are supported by by these two industries, let them know you don't approve.

Oh, such brilliance. How can we stand it! Just reading the words doesn't do justice to it. You have to hear Frank deliver them. Pitch perfect and wonderful. Whoever he/she is/they are that decided to use Nazism as a talking point in the health care debate... it's purely reprehensible and a deep and utter disrespect to the millions of people who fell victim to it in the last world war.

What Barney, and all the other representatives that insult voters, seem to forget here is that they work for their constituents, they were "hired" by them and they are the bosses. Exactly what do you think would happen to you if you insulted or belittled your boss and ridiculed him/her like Barney did to the voters in his town hall? That is exactly right, you would be thrown out the door. Which is exactly what his constituents should do to him next year. The arrogance of our representatives is breathtaking, to think THEY have the right to tell us what is best for us, what THEY are going to do whether it is what we want or not. It violates their oath to represent their people--that is their job. But since when do promises mean anything to those in Washington?

You would have a point if a voter asked a legitimate question regarding health care reform. This is not a point of view that anyone could take seriously -- this woman is comparing Obama to Hitler and defacing his photograph and she is comparing health care reform to Nazi policies. That is just plain offensive and has no place in our political dialogue. I say Bravo to Barney Frank.

WELL What can I say, "when you got it you have got it" and what Barney has is the guts to call it like he sees it. Today he called these scare tactics and false outrage for what is was "having an argument with a dinner table". Classic.

I caught most of the town hall meeting last night on C Span. It was great. Should be mandatory for all civics classes. Kids would learn how democracy works. Some people with a vote yell and scream and say silly things and other people try to make sense out of it all. They only get one vote also. Let's hope the majority uses common sense and not passionate b.s.
Barney Frank is my new hero. He handled the nut jobs with ease and candor. Wish I had a Rep like him. Mine is a straight Republican country club church kind of guy. No hope for him to vote for health care reform. "Free market" is where it's at. Trust the market. Of course he has health care paid for by we the people.
