Hayden is one of many that should be standing before the Hague for war crimes. People like this buffoon still do not comprehend that torture is a crime regardless of its results. This nation will not get beyond its stagnation and decline until it honestly deals with the rancid stench of it underlying ills. Mere words will not solve this because mere words are just that, words. This nation professes to be a nation of laws, since professing that ideology, now would be the time to enforce them, if we truly possess the true meaning of a nation of laws. If not, then toss all of them out the window as we have done basically with almost everything we professed as a nation.

"Modest gains" is a euphemism for "the Vice president got stiff, but it wasn't very impressive.."

Actually, from AlQaida's perspective the gains were enormous.

Read the Senate Intelligence Committee's Report "Treatment of Detainees in US Custody".

As they say in soccerland, "Own Goal".

So there is a four star liar. He became more of a politician than the usual run of the mill general and lied with every breath.

What - only modest gains. Dick Cheney thought otherwise and pressured to raise the threat level. Unbelievable.

"The gains were modest." And, still they tortured!
America has lost its soul with the previous administration.
The decision makers had no sense of their obligation to the Constitution, to the electorate, and to the Rule of Law.

Demand accountability!

Is "modest" now a synonym for "nonexistent"?

Once again liberals miss the point and distort the General's words.

As a good Republican, he's quite a moral man. Who among them is not you may well ask?

So his use of the term "modest" means that torture was not "pornographic" or "immodest".

I'd point out one incontrovertible fact to you. Since we tortured prisoners, NY City has not been subject to a nuclear attack. So torture kept NYC safe.

So whatever happened to all the lives Cheney says were saved by "enhanced interrogation techniques"?

So when did the terms Modest and Illegal become synonymous?

Wasn't this the same Michael Hayden who defended waterboarding to get valuable intell?

"“The facts of the case are that the use of these techniques against these terrorists made us safer. It really did work. "

Maybe he should have said, "It really did moderately work."
