Cocaine

The Guardian:

"Tonight we have two types of cocaine; normal for 100 Bolivianos a gram, and strong cocaine for 150 [Bolivianos] a gram." The waiter has just finished taking our drink order of two rum-and-Cokes here in La Paz, Bolivia, and as everybody in this bar knows, he is now offering the main course. The bottled water is on the house.

The eighties are coming!

About time. Score one for civil liberties. Mexico also legalized cocaine, albeit a small amount. You can now have a half gram in mexico for personal consumption. Along with marijuana, meth, acid. The "girls gone wild" videos are about to come off the hinges

Evo Morales is a good man. Authoritarians need to come to terms with the fact that they cannot control everyone. It took a full-blooded native to tell people to mind their own god damned business with regards to other people's recreational choices.

All these years of DEA narcs poisoning Columbian peasant farmers from high-altitude pesticide spraying, because some Americans wanted to control the lives of other Americans... Now we have a guy in Bolivia who puts an end to this insane, imperialistic aggression.

Support Bogotá Mayor, Sergio Farjado for President of Columbia. Support Hugo Chavez as well.

Snort a rail for freedom. Snort a rail for all those coca farmers who wouldn't give up their way of life. Snort a rail for Tony Montana, Juan Valdez, and even Pablo Escobar. Just one rail can be an expression of solidarity, and the living spirit of American freedom.

Hey make it legal and tax it in the US but make sure that the profit is on hand for the treatment that will be required to save the people that go overboard on it and sell and pawn everything they own to try and get that euphoria back when they started out.

Have you ever considered the possibility that it could be inexpensive? Why should an addict have to sell all their stuff to keep up their habit? Jeez. How about a decent price?

it would\should go the way of tobacco.. a frowned upon but tolerated excess for people to indulge in at their own peril and at their own cost... in California the defacto legalization of pot doesn't seem to have driven the price down at all.. taxing would help pay for treatment, etc for people who get 'caught up'..

I actually think that if my time in Holland is any example, people will have no trouble controlling their addictions, and it will be far safer if quality and dosages are assured...

I wish America would leave other countries alone.. Our 'moral right' types are dispicable in their rush to demonize and control.

Crack is fairly cheap. That didn't help much, now did it, Honoré.
I don't see how making b.low $30 a gram will improve anyone''s life.
I am a strong supporter of maryjane legalization.
But I have serious, serious doubts about every other kind of high.

Now this is more like it, although I wouldn't touch cocaine with a 100 foot pole, I think this is a great idea. The U.S. need to grow up concerning drug use. Obviously there is something to it because so many Americans indulge in them.I used to do cocaine myself 14 years ago until I got tired of it and quit on my own after doing it for three years.

exactly.. these drugs are pretty much unplesant.. most people dont want them at all.. and if they do want them, it is for 2 or 3 hours at a time on a saturday at the nightclub or something similar...

there are actually ecstacy-purity-test-machines at some european nightclubs.. so far their societies haven't crumbled, so far as i can tell..

Cocaine can be a good time if that good time is stopped early through sheer will and not stretched out into numerous years as is more likely. I had my run with it, thought it would end in college but went on for longer than necessary. It took becoming a dad to finally shake me loose.

For crying out loud, just legalize drugs! All prohibition does is enrich gangsters and corrupt public officials all over the world.

Bolivia would become the riches country in the world if they could export the raw coca leaf. I am told that chewing them acts as an appetite suppressant and is better than coffee as a stimulant. All we need is the blessing of the United State and we are off to the races.

Bolivia is sitting on the largest untapped reserves of lithium in the world. Automobiles will be running on lithium batteries. That's where the real wealth of the country lies. And that's why the US has gone out of its way to demonize the Morales presidency. He will make sure that the processing and sale of lithium at a fair price will benefit the Bolivians first and foremost. Global corporatism will work to replace Morales with a regime willing to, once again, sell out its people.

they used to use it in coca cola for crying out loud!
