note to the NYT :

EVERY NATION "AS RICH AS OURS" ALREADY GUARANTEES HEALTH COVERAGE FOR ALL OF ITS RESIDENTS

why don't you write a couple of op-eds about that ? --

apparently, the rest of the planet sees healthcare as a basic human right .........

It's certainly supported by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I wonder why that never comes up.

Don't get too excited.

Look at Wikipedia's page about Presidential Approval Ratings:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_approval_rating#Current_President_Barack_Obama

Look at Rasmussen. Notice how very different they are from all the other polls.

Also, look at the comparison charts near the bottom of the page. They show a graph for each President going back to Truman. Each President starts off high, and the numbers fall off initially, just like Obama's.

principaldad, I don't think you know what you're posting. You said that the resin or white "plastic" fillings were stronger, yet your own link says the amalgam fillings are stronger. I have been saying that the Head of the Dental Board for the state told me the AMALGAM fillings are stronger, and the plastic-type (I don't remember what you called it actually) were not as strong, especially for biting surfaces.

Now the link you posted agrees with what I SAID.

Wake up. Or are you just doing this to fight? I am beginning to wonder if you libs are really stupid or just being contentious.

Why are you still Iying and now posting old comments at the top of the thread. You are going off topic about a tiny part of a comment I made about 4 pages ago.

I never once said that composite fillings were stronger. That is another Iie of yours.

I am also not a liberal. I am conservative on several issues. In the last week on this site I have been accused of being liberal twice and conservative twice.

You have been consistently ab.usive on this thread, you have been posting proven Iies, and you have failed to back up a single one of your far out claims. You insist your own opinions are fact while at the same time calling everything anyone else says opinion. I am done responding directly to you. After reading your posted infowars link, I am a bit concerned about your stability. I may still stick around to rebut your siIIiness but I will not address you directly.

If we don't reform the heath care industry, it won't matter. Families will be without health care, bankrupt, and on the street. That will bankrupt this country's economy. Currently, the U.S. pays more for health care, gets less, and has one of the highest infant mortality rates of most industrialize nations. Something wrong with this picture?

How do other developed countries afford universal health care? They do. Canada, for one was reducing its debt substantially year over year until the depression/recession hit last year. Canada's banks did not fail because they were well regulated under their Conservative Government. And Canada was paying for their health care system every year during the pay down of the debt. But the US Government of the time [wonder who?] wanted Canada to spend more on the military even if Canada went into debt.

I don't think you should be tauting that point too much. I should point out that we were in the black when Clinton left office. When it was pointed out that Bush was creating huge deficits, Chenney actually said that having a government surplus was a bad thing and they started spending like crazy. We've been spending 52-billion a month in Iraq for six years. That is 52 x 12 x 6 = $3.7 trillion.

Then you add in all the repug derregulation that allowed the finacial markets to create huge, highly leveraged, highly risky investment which collapse, bring down the world ecconomy and threaten put us in a depression. Are we supposed to take you seriously when you talk about bankruptcy?

We are not bankrupt, (Repubs always think they know something about finance.) During World War II, we had a debt of 125% of GDP and we weren't bankrupt then. Currently, the debt is 35% of GDP. Not even a quarter of what it was then.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt

One of the important points is that the only thing that brought us out of the Great Depression, was the massive spending of during WWII. You will notice that right after the war ended and the Depression stopped, the debt went down very rapidily. We need to spend money right now to avert a financial disaster, but once it is over, it will be paid back quickly.

You will also notice that the debt went down with every president up to Reagan. The debt went up during the Reagan, Bush I and Bush-II's term in office and went down during Clintons. What does that say?

We were not in the black. We were in the black in future projections on paper, if we stayed within our current budget guidelines. It was all only on paper and dependent on the future staying the same.

What do you do when your debt vastly exceeds your annual salary and you can't even pay your interest let alone your principal? Yeah, that's what we'd do if there was an avenue to do it. We're BORROWING MONEY TO PAY THE INTEREST ON THE MONEY WE'VE BORROWED. I see you have absolutely ZERO economics education.

The United States is rich. The middle class and the poor are getting poorer every day and have been for 30 years. The United States GOVERNMENT is broke. The bottom line we tax very poorly and we concentrate wealth terribly. These two defects are killing us.

An article released by the AP pointing out that millions will recieve less social security (No cost of living adjustment). In other words...they are rationing....

If it's happening with Social Security....it will happen with healthcare...they won't have the funds so they won't provide the service...

Grover Norquist (neocon) said he wanted to reduce government to the point that he could drown it in a bath tub. I think that tells us what "hand" is intentionally making it go down fast. When Clinton ran FEMA it was a first class orgamization that everybody praised about its handling of the big hurricanes in Florida. You can see what happen when Bush got a hold of it with Katrina.

Considering that the richest 1% was the only segment of the ecconomy that grew during the Bush years, it is obvious, that the only thing republicans care about are big corporations, real elites and rich people. The rest of us just here to mow the lawns, serve the drinks and pay all our money to the health insurance companies.

It does not say that. It's speculation/projection that there might not be a cost of living increase because there is no growth.
Not saying it's not worrisome but it's not engraved in concrete either.

Yeah..but the govt's plan, while not set in stone is to ration social security.

That's a problem when they're trying to convince people they won't do the same with healthcare, a much more complicated system.

All emotion - no facts. There is no cost of living adjustment because the cost of living is going down. It is called deflation it has gone down for the past four months. Since social security cannot be reduced, the fact the social security is staying the same while the cost are going down means the SS recipients are actually gaining. It is one of those math things that Repubs don't seem to understand very well.

Our insurance companies already ration.

And SS is not being cut, nor is it being "rationed". The SS entitlement stays the same but there's no COLA this year so the increasing medical payments which count AGAINST the entitlement will result in a smaller check.

Amazing what you learn when you READ the article.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:36 PM on 08/23/2009

You have posted this over an over again but if you read the article you realize your claims are faIse.

Social Security rules state that cost of living adjustments are supposed to cover inflation (hence the name, Cost of Living). There was DEFLATION this year. That means the cost of living went DOWN. Luckily the rules state that payments cannot go down.

However, Congress (including Democrats) are considering bypassing the rule and giving a cost of living raise anyway.

N@zis were the National Socialist Party. The LEFT in this country is the current equivalent. The N@zis took over the banking system, the automobile industry, and the health care industry.

Does this look like America? And whose party is currently in charge presiding over these changes?

Looking at N@zi Germany, you could say modern day America is beginning to look just like it. Right down to the "collecting data on those who disagree with our leader."

Proof is easy. The German Government of the 1930's resembles the Republican Party far more than any Democrat or Liberal. Let's count the ways:

1. The German government had close ties with big business. They used big business to build their war machine and to build their concentration camps. The left distrusts big business for this and other reasons. The Republican are always whining about the left is too mean to business.

2. The German Government hated Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, communist, socialist and anyone foreign. The Republicans are suspicious of anyone black, hispanic, homosexual or different. That's why there are virtually no hispanics or blacks in the party. All the white supremacist joined the Repugs after Johnson passed the civil rights act.

3. The Republicans and Big business supported the German Government during WWII. In fact, some of the biggest industrialists in the country plotted to overthrow Roosevelt and only General Smedly Butler stopped the coup attempt. (Look it up.)

4. The Germans had a hatred for individual rights and supported the state over the people. The Republicans have a dislike for individual and only support rights for corporations and the elite. For example, they support such anti-democratic concepts such as "Corporate Personhood," and the "Unitary Presidency".

I could go on and on, but Huffington only give us 200 words.

The fact that the banks virtually stole all the money (debt-based fiat currency worth nothing) OF the country does NOT leave this country RICH, so the NYT is delusional along with the rest of them. The article makes no sense, and it's really simplistic and childish.

What's simplistic and childish is a line like "the banks stole all the money!"

America is a rich nation. But we underfund the government and use our tax laws and and policies to concentrate wealth among the wealthy. So America is rich and most Americans are poor.
