Lieberman To Alec Baldwin: "Make My Day" And Run Against Me (VIDEO)

Senator Joseph Lieberman said on Sunday that he was more than ready to take on an election challenge from 30 Rock star and longtime Democratic activist Alec Baldwin.

"Make my day," the Connecticut independent told CNN's "State of the Union." "I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian, and if he wants to run, that's his right."

A Baldwin-Lieberman match-up would draw an intense amount of political attention, instantaneously becoming the most-watched Senate race of the cycle. But the showdown wouldn't come until 2012. And while Baldwin has hinted his desire to boot Lieberman from Congress -- "I have no use for him," he told Playboy Magazine -- he's also declared that he's not running.

"Lastly, no I am not moving to Connecticut to run against Joe Lieberman," Baldwin wrote in a July column for the Huffington Post. "As much as I think Lieberman is an enormous letdown to the party that gave him their nomination for vice president, I am sure that Democratic Party leaders in that state will take care of themselves."

Hey Baldwin, I'm still waiting for you to keep your promise to move to Canada; go now, I'll pass the hat to help fund your moving expenses. Baldwin is typical of one of the Democrat party's constituencies; Hollywierd blowhards. Baldwin, Sarandon, Redford, etc, are so full of themselves, they really believe that the majority of Americans really dig what they think about politics. We don't. Since Joe Lieberman is not a 'proper' Democrat any more, being in
his own 'Party of One', shouldn't he still be required to face primary
opposition? That would certainly be part of the fun, and more useful
than for Alec Baldwin to secure the Demo nomination, which he could
probably do quite easily, still have to face JL in the general election.The
time to take Smokin' Joe out of the picture (again!) is in the primary.

Really looking forward to those 'Party of One' debates, Alec B vs. Joe L!

I'll tell you this as a Connecticut voter, and a (now very ashamed) former Lieberman supporter.

Joseph Lieberman will never get re-elected in the great state of Connecticut. Not for the US Senate, not for the state Senate, not for dogcatcher.

That is one side of the coin. I am concerned about the republican support he got last time due to support from likes of Sean Hannity, Glen Beck etc.

Unless they also dump him in fairly good numbers, he will stand some chance of getting reelected.

Stranger things have happened than re-electing Joe Lieberman. I'd NEVER
vote for him, but a lot of CTers (who don't appear here) did & would again, or
his Repo clone, unless CT Demos are very shrewd about pushing him aside.

Remember, he lost the Dem primary last time, and I doubt there are many Dems in the state who'll vote for him. I'm not alone in having once supported him, but no more.

It's hard for a Republican to get elected to national office in CT. Has to be a liberal Republican, and they're in shorter supply than Lieberman's values.

If I were in Joe's shoes I would not be throwing down the gauntlet like this because he may end up on the losing side of the battle. He is already skating on very thin ice and his cronies like McCain and others cannot save him.
