we should all join cindy to protest the war. Obama is not keeping his promises and we need to hold his feet to the fire.

You mean his promise to responsibility withdraw troops in Iraq and shift the focus to Afghanistan?

http://www.rte.ie/news/2008/0715/uspolitics.html

I don't like the wars any more than anyone else but people seemed to not be paying attention during the presidential campaign. It's like those surprised with Obama's stance on health care even though it was a major platform of his campaign.

Sorry for the spaces, censored for some reason.

Obama 8/25 on AfPak:

But we must never forget: This is not a w ar of choice. This is a w ar of necessity. Those who att acked America on 9 / 11 are plo tting to do so again. If left un checked, the Tal iba n in surg ency will mean an even larger safe haven from which al Q aed a would plot to k ill more Americans. So this is not only a w ar worth fig hting. This is a -- this is fundamental to the d efense of our people.

Sounds a lot like Dubya, no? Same old crap, new suit.

Is there some reason we cannot call the Iraq war a "liberation" and not an "occupation." Is the word "occupation" so deeply seated in the psyche of the far left that every time we take military action, no matter the justification we are engaged in OCCUPATION? We seek none of their oil, are not setting up permanent military bases and have announced our intent to leave this newly forming democracy that we have sacrificed so much in terms of money and lives for. Our cause is noble even if you disagree with it, our intent is good. We deposed a despotic murderous dictator. Ever noticed the Iranian backed terrorists are stepping up their war on the Iraqi people now that we are leaving? There is a reason for this----they need us to stay so they can have a canard for the genocide they are committing.

you have no opinions other than that? Nothing about whether or not the war in Iraq cannot be ended overnight? Or how the war in Afghanistan is the one that should have been fought in the first place? Or even opposite opinions to that? Just you "like the Prez but she has courage"? Very helpful to the discussion.

Good for Cindy Sheehan. She talks the talk and walks the walk. She's actually actively voicing her opposition to these ridiculous wars that we just get deeper in. She's not just posting on a blog like so many of us.

I applaud Cindy Sheehan for doing this. With all this "debate" about not being able to afford health care, it's obvious all my money is going to the military.

I question the target of her anger, since her son signed up willingly of his own accord and must have been aware that a soldier doesn't get to pick and choose which wars they fight in, she is justified in protesting

She's justified in protesting against the Iraq War and seeking an explanation for A- why it began, and B- why Obama is continuing it, and justified in protesting against the Afghanistan War since no real case has ever been presented for why it is taking place, with Obama apparently fully supportive of it.

he gave the case many times during the campaign. Rewatch the debates with McCain, as well as Obama's convention speech. Just cause you forgot doesn't mean he didn't say it. I feel sorry for him being the Pres of ppl who don't pay, and still complain anyway.

I would say most of the people critical of our leader are racist (and ofcourse every rupug is racist) but not all are. The critical blacks are not racist because fundamentally it is impossible for them to be. Also, most woman are not racist. And although Obama is half colored he is also half white so I wonder how that plays into the racism equation.

I am heading to Iraq in October and the God have bless me so much that I am now sureas the last rotation as we are now an "Advise and Assist" that we will be out of Iraq before Agust 2010. Yes, we all joined the Army, Marines, Airforce, Navy and Coast Guard knowing fully well the danger of our jobs, however when the military and its leaders and beholden to corrupt Politicians (GOP) from states like Georgia, Texas, Alaska, Oklahoma and the likes we know we are in for MORE WARS. Over the years base closing and realignment (BRAC), have focus on putting more bases in the southern and midwestern states and away from the East and the West. It is the military industrial complex and the ease at which these politicians are easily bribed to keep an armamendt industry alive. With our economy in shambels and our military over stretched, the American people will awaken and demand that we end this all. Yes, President OBAMA will be forced to do the right thing and he should be. It is high time that the $900 billions we spend each year on weapons be put to an end. The President is pro military as he should, but WARS for WARS sake does not protect us in anyway as a nation and a people. We need to take care of the homefront first.

why did you join the military? Was it because the rationing John Kerry believes in? Kerry said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

I feel bad for her. It seems thru her grief and convictions she wanted to do what she thought was right for all mother's sons and what was best for the country she loves. But the media used her when it was good for them and gave them sensational headlines. Too bad they only cared about the Bush "conflict" part of the story not her message. As with all users the media has now tossed her aside
Just remember the words of Lucille Clifton , Cindy
"What they call you is one thing, but what you answer to is something else."

Cindy Needs to protest FOR HealthCare Reform. She should dedicate her life to the needs of the living, while continuing to mourn the death of her son.

What Does She Want ?

What better way to dedicate one's life to the needs of the living then to protest war? She is nothing if but consistent.

the reasons for THIS war have been explained over and over and over and over. YOu so called Obama supporters didn't mind when he told you he intended to do this, but now that you've changed your "fad" from drooling over him to attacking him, you're now against the war. Whatever.

you got any family over there in this colossal mess? afghanistan is a losing proposition. iraq a pure debacle. both of these wars are a humanitarian, financial and political nightmare. if we spent all of the money on homeland security that we've spent on these two wars, we wouldn't have to worry so much about what is going on in the caves of afghanistan. and if for one minute, you think wiping out the taliban and al-quaeda in afghanistan would bring this all to a halt, then you are sadly mistaken. there are al-quaeda cells all over the world. they would just be emboldened by the loss of their so-called "headquarters". they would just reunite in some other disenfranchised country. and good luck trying to get the afghani's to stop growing poppies. what do you think they do for a living over there? not condoning it, but hey, maybe they could grow corn and make the same money? i doublt they think that would be a suitable substitute. the money we save could perhaps go into why americans have such an appetite for heroin etc.

She has been. As I understand it from her webpage, she is in with the Green Party and stands for single payer healthcare among other things. The fact is her influence is limited to the area in California that she can represent, if she ever wins, but she does have her heart in the right place.
