All the most, Oprah. We could use you in the health care fight.

She did strongly endorse SICKO last year, having Michael Moore on twice to promote it.

I don't watch Oprah. I usually only catch Keith and Rachel, if anything, sometimes Ed. Once in a while I'll watch Fox to in order to assess whether the amount of hate mongering has decreased -- not yet.

Anyway -- Oprah was great in The Color Purple.

Me too. A fried egg sandwich is a delicious thing. I need rice and corn bread with black eyed peas, though. And where's the fried chicken? That's delicious when done correctly.

Oprah is the best ! I have learned so much from her shows over the years.....which is the whole point of watching her shows.

I don't really understand why people on the internet have to go hating on people they don't even know. Some of the comments are absolutely viscous.

Anyways.

I have found her show some what boring lately, with only a few good episodes worth watching. I hope she steps up her game this year. I'm tired of Dr. Oz and Suzzy.

and if Oprah was so great, she would just donate her money to charity anonymously.

but no, she has to make a big public spectacle of her "gratitude."

sorry, Oprah has one of the biggest egos in the world and there are no number of heart wrenching stories about her show are going to change that.

She has a magazine solely dedicated to showing her on the cover every month.

Her fans are just sheep, they can't even see the advertising trap they are walking into every time they feed their Oprah addiction.

She's not a completely horrible person, but you can tell she thinks very highly of herself because of her very high profile philanthropy.

People are so easily drawn in by all the stuff she gives away to her audience and they just see the happy moment when they found out they won something.... They aren't seeing them backstage when they found out Oprah just cost them 6000 in taxes on their new "gifts"
10:35 AM on 08/30/2009
Actually the vast majority of her charity is done quietly. Of the $306+ million she's given to charity, the only thing the public really knows about is the $40 million school in South Africa. What she doesn't talk about is the hundreds of African American men she's sent through college & the millions she's given to historically black colleges & womens shelters. But the real question is why do you require that philanthropy be done in secret? Is it because you don't like being reminded of the fact that a woman raised with so little opportunity has managed to give a million times as much as you ever will? Never mind all the millions of people who are inspired to give more by seeing Oprah's example, she should just keep quiet so that you don't feel guilty for your lack of charity.

Not only are your views uncharitable & self-serving, but your logic is not great. You complain about the taxes on Oprah's gifts. If your boss is ever misguided enough to give you a raise, are you going to turn it down on the grounds that with greater income comes greater taxes? And I don't recall taxes on free cars being offensive when a white man like Bob Barker gave them out on the Prices is Right for 20 years. But a black woman does it one time & suddenly it's CONTROVERSIAL. I would hate to meet people like you in real life.
04:32 PM on 08/30/2009
A few years ago I had the good fortune to make enough money to be able to give some away. The first group I approached was thrilled. But when I said I wanted my gift to be anonymous they said please don't. They believe the entire community benefits from knowing about the generosity of others. Over the years I have gotten calls from potential donors asking why I chose a particular organization; even how long it took to make a decision. Many then made gifts, some because "they just hadn't gotten around to it before." I don't have the resources of Ms. Winfrey, however I hope that those who do are inspired by her generosity. I grew up poor. My grandmother always said no matter how little you have, you always have enough to share. If you give a plate of food to the homeless person who comes to your door, word will get around (and more homeless people are likely to show up). It appears you have no concept of generosity or Philantrophy. Perhaps you ought to explore rather than criticize. BTW: If I went to see a show and got a free car, I'd gladly pay the taxes. That's a much better deal than working.

How is promoting the greatest black philanthropist in American history selling out? There's something very wrong with they way you think.

I truly love, admire and respect Oprah! She is an American AND a world treasure!

I haven't had a television in fifteen years and I still love her.

She's a class act.
05:57 PM on 08/29/2009
Her show is annoying. I liked it for awhile, but I hate it when she has Dr. Oz on or celebrities. I loved it when she would do awesome stories. But now it's boring.
01:41 PM on 08/29/2009
Oprah's the greatest thing America has ever produced. I love that video, especially the part where she does that little sprinkly thing with her fingers. If America didn't have an Oprah Winfrey we would have to invent one. She's so amazing I can't stand it.

Your a hater, your probably broke & busted?
11:57 PM on 08/29/2009
“Your” is incorrect usage; “your” is the possessive form of you. Examples of the correct usage of “your” are:
Your house is very beautiful.
Is your house still for sale?
I will return your book next week.

The correct word is “you’re”. You're is the contraction for “you are”.

You’re a hater; you’re probably broke & busted.

In addition, your comma and question mark usage is incorrect punctuation. The proper punctuation marks are a semicolon after “hater” and a period at the end of the sentence.
