I lived in the shadow of the smoke stack in the photo... For 6 years.. It is right near a vibrant art community and mexican neighborhood with thousands and thousands of young American children getting poisoned. The stack is connected to a generator that the operators refuse to clean up. They were about to be forced to clean it when GWBush was 'elected'. I am sure the kickbacks were like 2% the cost of cleaning it would be..Our politicians seem to go cheap.. I really hope this current EPA lawsuit has teeth.. I am very skeptical.. There is such an ugly element of 'profit at all cost' in our country.. The authoritarian right wingers need to be marginalized before they kill us all with their nuclear bombs...
Somehow I want to make it clear that I mean Mexican-American children.. Thousands with asthma according to the reader...
These companies are poisoning the air, land and water. Why are they protected? My guess is they've paid to have friends in high places. Do we know the amount the companies have contibuted to political campaigns?
Too bad the people responsible can't be put in jail.
This kind of crime seems to have no consequence for the crooks.
