My family has narcolepsy in some form or another. My father had it for several years ago before any meds were developed. My older brother (there are 6 of us ) has a severe case to the point of hindering his life because of no sleep and the daytime sombulence. I have a medical background and have tried to get my
brother the best care possible. This has been problematic due to a general lack of research. Now he is in the Cleveland Clinic system and doing better. Provigil has been a godsend, for years he has taken uppers and downers. Now with regular sleep studies and using CPAP equipment he has a near normal life. But he still needs big weight loss. However things are better. The article hit the point, but these folks can have a normal life. We need more research and specificallly stem cell research.
