Artie Lange On His 25-Year-Old Girlfriend: 'She's A Child' (VIDEO)

Artie Lange appeared on the "Late Show" last night and told David Letterman all about his 25-year-old girlfriend who he says he's been dating "since her prom." When Dave asked if she had children Lange responded, "No, she is a child."

Although this seems like a lovely and committed relationship, Lange says there's trouble in paradise when she wants to "do something." "I'm 41 and I'm done doing stuff...I want to sit in a chair that's this wide, and watch Sports Center and eat until I fit into the chair."

Here's a quick fact check for the haters:

1) Artie Lange is one of the most successful comics out there. He averages $75,000 an appearance. He's on the biggest radio show to ever exist.

2) He's been dating this girl for a few months NOT since her prom. It's called comedy, look it up.

3) He's beloved by working men because he's just as imperfect as the rest of us and he's brave enough to show all of it on air.

4) You are all UNBELIEVABLY condescending to assume that a 25 year old girlfriend is a victim of some sort. She's an adult, she made a choice, and who the hell are any of you to judge her?

5) Yes, get used to it: Young women are attracted to SUCCESSFUL, FUNNY, CONFIDENT, POWERFUL MEN.

It is surprising to see people in the audience clapping their hands despite that, at some level (though it may not be intended as such by the interviewee), the remarks he made alludes to the childishness and money minded mindset of his girlfriend.

In addition, given that he is in a formal setting talking to a global audience (Letterman's shows are viewed almost globally) the interviewee's use of the word "child" bears the markers of sexism and/or the otherness of women--He is the One, she is the Other. In an informal setting like home, however, the meaning would would be different. Wrong collocation of words...

There is nothing to laugh about. Sub-conscious level recognition of women as the Other.

I would really like to make a point here. Artie, and all you guys over 40 who think that having a young girlfriend means that she loves you, she does not. It is about money and access to others who may be famous. You are not, nor will you ever be, what she wants to take home to Daddy. You are nothing but access and dollars. Not love. Please remember that! And be a little embarrassed by it, okay! If you don't look at women over 40 because their bodies are not what they were when they were 20, what makes you assume that women under 40 look at you as something that is attractive? You're not! Kudos on the good marriage. I wouldn't say 12 years your junior is "robbing the cradle" either. (Starts looking bad after 15 years...) I can understand a woman being bitter for being dumped for a younger woman. But its also like being bitter about starvation in the world or poverty. Life is unfair, adapt one's strategy. LOL wow, yr obviously bitter and maybe, have you been dumped more than once? I have a girlfriend who is 13 years younger than me and we started dating when she was 22. We've been together for over 5 years... guess what, I am not a millionaire or famous and yes she loves me. She's also model beautiful and has a really high IQ (above 140)! People get together and stay together for a lot of reasons, not just because someone is famous and or rich. I have a personality and am well read and also have a very high IQ... You sound like the type of woman that would make most men run for the hills. Nothing like a bitter older lady who probably doesn't take care of herself very well! lol There is a difference between a dumb young woman of average or lower IQ and an intellectually advanced young woman. I don't have to explain much to my girlfriend because she has the capacity to understand what I'm saying and she brings her own insight into every topic... she's brilliant.
