When I said before that Americans needed to become conscientious consumers and that it was a matter of life and death, I had mostly Fox News, with its Australian interloper, in mind.

Andrew Sullivan is the puke behind the town hall turfers and talking points about death panels.

Why would I wanna take stock in anything he has to say? He's just a kinder, gentler Karl Rove.

He and McCain are the same in that they know HOW to be good, but only do it once in a blue moon.

I think you have him confused with someone else. He has generally been supportive of the President.

woops, you are right, I have him mixed up with that pollster that also goes on Bill Maher.

Sorry Andrew. Really really sorry. You have come around since the Bush years and I applaud your bravery for speaking out against the liars and speaking up for Obama.

We were warned:

Australians warned us not to allow Rupert Murdoch to infiltrate our free press standards

England warned us not to allow Rupert Murdoch to infiltrate our free press standards

Sir Richard Branson said something like "if we let him, Murdock will destroy democracy".

We ignored Australia and England- look at the dumb down we got!

WSJ- Dumb it Down President!

Wall Street Journal- Once the most trustworthy news in the WORLD

Pitiful and shameful

Absolutely right on the mark for many of us who are gray behind the ears! Indeed I distinctly remember that Australians and the Brits. clearly told us about this conservative interloper who was more interested in money making tabloid journalism than in democracy. But you see, those were the heady days of the eighties, and Ronald Reagan, when the emphasis was on depicting government as evil while private business, in pursuit of maximum profit, was the greatest good. Not only that, right wing conservatives, under the leadership of Bill Simmon, former Nixon's Treasury Secretary, had been working on long term plan to take over the media to spread the conservative agenda. Murdoch became the perfect fit by building an ideological media empire which still had tabloid features aimed at making lots of money by inciting emotions at the expense of reasoned discourse. Under the Murdoch empire facts and truth no longer matter; what mattered was the conservative ideology. If facts and lies have to be manufactured to advance the conservative ideology then that is absolutely acceptable. I don't know how long democracy will survive in the U.S. But surely one of the people who have done so much to undermine it, while claiming to be advancing it, is Rupert Murdoch. It is as if Murdoch decided to play a cruel joke on America by using his media empire to bring to reality George Orwell's fictional 1984.

Agreed. I would never imagine that I could any useful information from watching a Chris Wallace interview, and would have barely any hope for any other pundit on regular TV.
The Daily Show and Colbert are about the only ones with the cojones and freedom to actually ask uncomfortable questions coupled with explicit evidence of what they are questioning.

Since Cheney is such a tough guy I suggest he stop the FOX interviews and submit to an interview with someone who will actually ask some tough questions. I suggest Rachel Maddow. Come on Cheney, be a man.

i agree it was a poor interview and typical of fox interviewing conservatives but he did get cheney to state that he agrees with any actions that went beyond the legal guidelines laid down for harsh interrogations...that alone confirms the wisdom of holders independent action.

Absolutely nonsense! By the way, as much as I support President Obama, and realistically understand the political minefield involved in pursuing serious investigations of Bush's torture policies; I still think that both President Obama, and AG Holder have chosen a timid and ineffective rout. While low level CIA people who engaged in torture need to be disciplined, the fact of the matter is, it is the high officials who ordered, encouraged and condoned torture that must be held accountable; no matter the political consequences. Unless that is done Obama will still have a problem convincing the rest of the world that the United States is dedicated to the rule of law. This is the time when Obama needs to risk re-election by standing for the rule of law. Having said that, I still believe, unlike many progressives on this cite, that in just eight months, President Obama has done a great deal to undo the ugly policies of the last eight years.
