America's Most Expensive ZIP Codes: Alpine, New Jersey Tops Forbes' List

This year, in some of the country's most exclusive enclaves, home prices took major dips.

The ZIP codes on our list saw a 7% average drop in asking price, and in many places prices fell even more. Though Alpine, N.J. (07620) tops our list with a median asking price of $4.14 million, prices there fell 23% over the past year.

You are wrong. Yes, the north eastern part is pretty dire, but there are large parts of New Jersey that are quite beautiful. I spent my first 20 years there.

Essex Fells NJ is also up there as well as Basking Ridge and Bedminster...horse country...

Oh yes, Rumson, Cherry Hill, Princeton...
Not my idea of stink and grime when mention of these places come up. You just have to get out from inside that I-287 Loop.

Alpine doesn't have a high school, so it sends it's students to the town I grew up in. Needless to say, some of the most annoying kids in that school came from Alpine.
