ABC News:

It is that oppressive time of year in the Mid-Atlantic region when the temperature inches over 90 degrees, the crickets croak day and night and the humidity is stifling.

Not ideal weather for downhill skiing, but weather is no longer an obstacle in steamy Lynchburg, Virginia, where the administration at Liberty University, the conservative evangelical college founded in a valley below the Blue Ridge Mountains by Rev. Jerry Falwell, have built a year-round, snow-less ski hill.

If he had 4 million dollars burning a hole in his pocket, What Would Jesus Do?

I doubt He would use it to build a year-round, snow-less ski hill.

I see a lot of postings on the waste of $ for a ski slope that could have been spent on actual aid to humanity. I agree wholeheartedly. Its the same principle behind the mega-church though. They're not spending the donations on anything measurably good, because in their mind its more important to add the flair their church needs to get more attendees. Whether that's a Life Family Learning Center or a 365x24x7 ski slope (minus Sundays). Its just the blind belief that, its more important to attract more faithful to a congregation for attendance than it is for those you have to actually go out and do things, unless those things are sending kids to Catholic countries and converting them.

Tax exemptions for Jesus----With the fiscal crisis and all--maybe we ask the churches to pay their fair share. I don't think God really needs the cash.

I'm sure Jesus would rather they do this than help the poor

Sounds a bit like Jim and Tammy Faye's amusement park back in the 80's, the one that Jerry Falwell stole and sold from them.

send your money to the religious crooks and they'll spend it on things like this instead of helping.
This is not what Jesus would've done.

I don't have a problem with religious students having fun or getting a 4 million ski ramp or whatever. It's a private school.

My concern is that how can a legitimate Christian student attend such a university knowing they are "catching air" while that 4 million could have been spent "catching fish" for needy people in the U.S. and all over the world.

Snowboard the perfect ramp that never changes or help the poor, destitute and needy... hmm tough choice.

They're conservatives. They don't concern themselves with the suffering of the poor- if after all, if God loved the poor, they'd be going to Falwell's school!

Can't they just pray for "snow on demand"? Governors Bob Riley (R. Alabama) and Sonny Perdue (R. Georgia) both issued a call for rain prayers and claimed credit when the rain came.
Of course, they waited until the heathen meteorologists forecast rain, but that's beside the point.
